The brutal death of an influencer, which was caught live on camera, has left netizens completely in shock over the inaction of the passers-by.
On July 8, KST, a post went viral on the Korean online community, theqoo, where the OP (original poster) had reposted a news report about a Chinese influencer’s horrific death. In the incident, which reportedly took place on June 30, a 54-year-old street dancer called Zhao was stabbed by a drunk man because he allegedly didn’t like Zhao’s act.
The murder, which took place in Songyuan City in the Jilin province, was caught on camera, where Zhao could be seen dancing on the street before the suspect walked over and intentionally barged into him. He then brandished a large knife and stabbed Zhao multiple times. Meanwhile, the two were surrounded by a large crowd, who were shockingly unmoved.
The suspect was placed under arrest after the stabbing, while Zhao was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. The 53-year-old suspect told the police that he didn’t know the victim before and only stabbed him after getting angered by his dance.
While the entire incident was traumatizing, Chinese and Korean netizens are both astounded that nobody from the large crowd surrounding Zhao stepped in to stop the stabbing or help him nor did they run away. The incident’s video went viral on the Chinese social media platform, Weibo, where netizens harshly criticized the “Weiguan” culture of China, which refers to the phenomenon of drawing a crowd to observe a problematic event or issue while not becoming involved.
