Real Life K-Drama: The Actress Who Fell In Love With A Driver

Their love transcended boundaries.

The love story of Joyce Chan is not unlike a K-Drama.

The former actress from Hong Kong is called one of the “Five Beauties” of local channel TVB. Now 47-years old, she has stepped back from the limelight and is focusing on her personal life.

It was recently revealed that she picked up her three-year old daughter from pre-school, a surprise to many as she maintained that she was single. She admitted on social media that the child was hers and that “this good news should have been announced three years ago.”

Though many wanted to know the identity of her partner, she simply stated that he is “a simple, low-key person [who is] not in the entertainment industry.”

A close friend of the actress revealed to Sing Tao Daily that Joyce fell in love with none other than the driver of her friend, fellow actor Dayo Wong. The latter starred alongside her in the drama War of the Genders (2002).

The driver and actress pair is notoriously private, however, friends have confirmed that the former is heads over heels over the latter. He is described to be a quiet, sweet man who treats her like a queen.

When they join us for meals, he is always ‘behind the scenes,’ quiet, serving tea and water, picking her up and dropping her off, they are a sweet couple. All these years, they have never split, they did not go public with their relationship due to pressure.

Joyce studied in Canada for high school and later attended the University of California. Her mother hoped that she would marry within the same social class, but she relented as soon as she saw her beloved grandchild.

Joyce’s mother is wealthy and respectable, with only two daughters [Joyce being the younger one], and is well-educated, so she naturally wanted her daughter to marry well. Hence, she opposed of her relationship with the driver many times, repeatedly advising her to reconsider.
