Singer’s Most Expensive Concert Seats Are At The Very Back Of The Venue — But Why?
A singer has been structuring his concert ticket prices in an unconventional way, but selling them out nonetheless! Just why are people willing to pay more for seats further away from the stage?
In China, impersonator singers are a huge hit. They are otherwise ordinary people who look like famous celebrities and sometimes sing like them, too.
In particular, legendary singer Jay Chou is known to have many lookalikes and impersonators.
Netizens even joke that there are enough Jay Chou lookalikes for them to be officially recognized as a minority group and that if Jay Chou entered into an impersonation contest of himself, he’d not win.
One such impersonator, who has almost 1 million followers on Douyin, has been holding and selling-out concerts recently.

Unlike other concerts, tickets to his shows get more expensive as you sit further from the stage. Front-row tickets cost $50 RMB (approximately $7 USD), while seats at the back cost up to $2,000 RMB (approximately $275 USD).
Netizens believe the reason for this unique pricing structure is that “the further away you sit, the more he looks like Jay Chou!”
Would you pay to watch an impersonator in concert? Which seats would you go for?
