A New Viral Beauty Trend Is Giving People Idol-Like Body Proportions

Many K-Pop idols appear larger than life, but–as many shorter idols have proven–sometimes height is nothing more than an illusion, or rather, proportions.
OH MY GIRL‘s YooA, for example, is only 159cm tall, but her sky-high legs make her appear much taller in photos. Loosemble member YeoJin is also on the shorter side, standing at 148cm tall, but it’s easy to mistake her for being taller in her solo photos.
From shoe inserts to styling to camera angles, idols have used many techniques to add inches to their heights, but one viral beauty trend is taking Douyin (Chinese TikTok) by storm: temporary belly button tattoos.
By wearing a fake belly button above their real belly button, Douyin users are easily able to achieve the idol-like 30% torso and 70% legs proportions that can make people appear taller than they actually are.
Although belly button tattoos can’t actually change a person’s height, they can be a quick and easy trick to try just for fun!
