Kissed Actress’s “Startled” Reaction Elicits Mixed Responses
An actress’s reaction to an actor’s behavior has received mixed reactions from netizens.
The Venice Film Festival, or Venice International Film Festival, is an annual film festival held in Venice, Italy. This year, the event took place from August 28 to September 7, and stars from all over the world attended. One of these stars was Chinese actress Zhang Ziyi, who gained international recognition for her performance in the wuxia martial arts film Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.
At the 81st Venice Film Festival, Zhang Ziyi presented the Volpi Cup for “Best Actor” to Vincent Lindon, a veteran French actor and filmmaker, for his performance in The Quiet Son film. While receiving the award, Zhang offered her hand for Lindon to shake.
Lindon then kissed Ziyi once on each cheek and posed briefly with her on stage for photos.
Some netizens felt that Zhang looked uncomfortable during the interaction, particularly after the second cheek kiss…
…and when Lindon moved his arm behind her.
Other netizens, however, came to Lindon’s defense, stating that cheek kisses are a standard European greeting, nothing more.
