Park Bo Young Believes Her Popularity Is Going Down
While many consider Park Bo Young‘s career to be peaking thanks to her role in Strong Woman Do Bong Soon, she thinks her best work came back in 2008.
In a recent interview with Sports Seoul, Park Bo Young revealed her honest thoughts on her career, and while she is quickly becoming one of the nation’s most loved actresses through the JTBC drama, she doesn’t consider this the peak of her career.
Despite Do Bong Soon‘s incredibly strong reviews from critics and viewers alike, she believes the best work she’s ever been in was back in 2008 when she starred in the movie Speedy Scandal alongside Cha Tae Hyun.
During the interview, she was asked if she felt stressed trying to maintain her popularity, and in her answer, explained what she was taught while filming the movie.
“One production I was really grateful for was Speedy Scandal, and there I met Cha Tae Hyun. I was really lucky to have met him. The movie did better than expected, but Cha Tae Hyun made sure to tell me this. ‘Throughout your life, you won’t work on another production with over 8.3 million viewers. If you try and overcome that, you’ll become distressed. From now on, we shouldn’t think about how to go higher from here, but rather how to slowly descend.’ I learned that my popularity will always descend after Speedy Scandal, and I’m looking for ways to slow down that descent.”

She further revealed that she is extremely grateful that Strong Woman Do Bong Soon is doing well with viewership ratings, but acknowledged that popularity is always temporary.
Park Bo Young was then asked if she considered her role in Speedy Scandal to have been the peak of her career, to which she expressed that she believes she will never receive as much spotlight as she did back then.
