14 K-Pop Idols Who All Once Trained Under YG Entertainment
Idols switch companies all the time, seeking opportunities in other fields or to increase their chances of debut in other agencies. Here are 14 idols who once trained under YG Entertainment, but eventually ended up making their debuts in another company!
1. Hongseok (PENTAGON)
PENTAGON‘s Hongseok is a well-known ex trainee of YG Entertainment! He even participated on the survival show that created iKON in 2014, titled Mix and Match. He failed to make the cut, however, and in the end, decided to leave the agency and join CUBE Entertainment, where he eventually made his debut with PENTAGON in 2016!
2. Miyeon ((G)I-DLE)
(G)I-DLE‘s Miyeon is another well-known ex-YG trainee! Along with the current BLACKPINK members and other trainees, she was famous for being a part of the lineup of PINK PUNK, the rumored girl group to follow 2NE1. She eventually decided to leave the agency, and found her way to CUBE Entertainment, where she debuted as the main vocalist of (G)I-DLE in 2018!
3. Jinny (Secret Number)
Secret Number‘s Jinny is another trainee who was a part of the PINK PUNK lineup, and she trained under YG for around 5 years before departing the company. She then participated in Produce 48 (the show that made IZ*ONE) before being eliminated at rank #69. Jinny soon ended up at Vine Entertainment, where she eventually made her debut in Secret Number in 2020!
4. Hyunseung (Former BEAST)
Former BEAST member Hyunseung is a famous ex YG Entertainment trainee, who was part of the original 6 member lineup for BIG BANG. Hyunseung was eventually dropped from the lineup, and he ended up leaving YG Entertainment to seek opportunities elsewhere. He then found his way over to CUBE Entertainment, where he made his debut with BEAST in 2009.
5. Woong (AB6IX)
Before joining AB6IX, Woong was a trainee under JYP Entertainment, Woollim Entertainment and YG Entertainment. He even appeared on the Stray Kids survival show, representing YG Entertainment in the Stray Kids: JYP vs. YG episodes. After leaving YG Entertainment, he made his way over to Brand New Music, and made his debut as the main vocalist of AB6IX in 2019!
6. BX (CIX)
CIX‘s BX trained under YG Entertainment for around 3 years, even appearing on the survival show MIXNINE, and ranked in 9th place. He also participated on YG Treasure Box, but failed to make the cut for Treasure. He then left the agency and joined C9 Entertainment, where he eventually made his debut in CIX in 2019!
7. Denise (Secret Number)
Secret Number’s Denise is another member of the group who trained under YG Ent.! She joined the agency in 2016, but eventually left to join Vine Entertainment, where she, along with Jinny, then debuted with Secret Number in 2020!
8. Seunghun (CIX)
CIX’s Seunghun also used to train under YG, and even represented the agency in the Stray Kids survival show. Seunghun also participated in the YG Treasure Box survival show, but failed to make the cut for the boy group. He then joined C9 Entertainment, and alongside BX, debuted as a CIX member in 2019!
9. Seoyeon (fromis_9)
When fromis_9‘s main rapper Soyeon was under YG Entertainment, she was a trainee famous for being a part of the lineup for the pre-debut group Future 2NE1. After the debut plans fell through, however, she decided to leave the agency and joined the survival show Idol School. She placed 7th in the show, and subsequently made her debut as a member of fromis_9 in 2018!
10. Roya
Roya, or Park Seoyoung, was another trainee who was a part of the Future 2NE1 group lineup. After leaving YG Entertainment in 2017, she appeared on Produce 48, but failed to make the cut for the group after finishing in 55th place. She eventually made her solo debut as an independent singer under the name “Roya” in 2020 with the single “Butterfly”.
11. Euna Kim (Former KHAN)
Euna Kim is an ex YG trainee who was a part of the lineup for PINK PUNK. She eventually left the agency and joined Music K Entertainment, where she debuted as a member of The Ark in 2015. The Ark, unfortunately, disbanded in 2016, and Euna Kim then found her way to Maroo Entertainment. She and another The Ark member named Minju then re-debuted as a duo named KHAN in 2018, but Euna Kim confirmed that KHAN silently disbanded in 2020.
12. Jang Hanna
Jang Hanna (also known as Hannah Jang) is another ex trainee who was a part of the PINK PUNK lineup. She ended up leaving the agency in 2017, and finally made her solo debut in 2020, with the single “RunnAway”.
13. Kim Eunbi
Kim Eunbi is a trainee who was also slated to debut with the PINK PUNK lineup, but ended leaving the agency voluntarily in 2014, citing health reasons. She then joined Stone Music Entertainment, where she made her solo debut in 2019.
14. Moon Sua
Moon Sua was a trainee under YG Entertainment for almost 10 years, and finally left the label in 2019. Along with being a famous trainee who was set to debut in Future 2NE1, she is also known to be ASTRO Moonbin‘s younger sister. Moon Sua is currently a trainee under Mystic Story, and is rumored to be debuting as a member of the agency’s highly anticipated new girl group.
