Here Are All 20 Currently Active Male K-Pop Artists From China
While there aren’t very many female idols from China currently in K-Pop, there are nearly twice as many active male K-Pop idols from China. The number still isn’t large in relation to every idol in K-Pop as a whole, but it is more common these days for non-Koreans to do well in the industry! Here are the 20 currently active male idols that moved to Korea from China in order to pursue their dreams.
1. Chenle (NCT Dream)
Born on November 22, 2001, Chenle is the main vocalist of NCT Dream. He only trained for 2 months before debuting! He admires EXO‘s Lay, and his hobbies include cooking, playing football, and anything that has to do with music. He can also play the piano.
2. Manny (VARSITY)
Born on November 17, 2001, Manny is the lead rapper and maknae of VARSITY. The 5 Chinese members, Manny included, debuted under Jungle Entertainment in 2017 along with the other 7 Korean members, but in 2018 the Chinese members also signed under Hi Media to promote in China. Manny has practiced music and acting since he was young, and his hobbies include swimming, dancing, and playing basketball. He was a model for over 10 years as well.
3. Renjun (NCT Dream)
Born on March 23, 2000, Renjun is the main vocalist, lead dancer, and visual of NCT Dream. Like Chenle, he also admires Lay from EXO. Despite being Chinese, his favorite subject is Korean, and he also understands English pretty well. He’s had practice in ballet and contemporary dance, and he also enjoys fashion.
4. Xiaojun (WAYV)
Born on August 8, 1999, Xiaojun is the main vocalist and sub-rapper of WAYV. He comes from a musical family, and he is skilled in songwriting, as well as playing the ukulele, piano, guitar, and drums. His hobbies include songwriting, reading, watching movies, and eating. He’s also the mood maker of the group.
5. Anthony (VARSITY)
Born on March 12, 1998, Anthony is the vocalist, rapper, and visual of VARSITY. He can play the piano, and his other hobbies include composing and sleeping. He speaks both Chinese and English, and his favorite artists are Drake, Coldplay, Lido, Zadd, Oh Wonder, and Kendrick Lamar.
6. The8 (SEVENTEEN)
Born on November 7, 1997, The8 is the lead dancer, sub-vocalist, and sub-rapper of SEVENTEEN. He’s part of the group’s performance sub-unit, and is in charge of the b-boying in the group, since he did it in China for 6 years. He has also practiced wushu, a Chinese martial art, since he was 5. He’s known for being an extremely fashionable person.
7. WinWin (NCT, WAYV)
Born on October 28, 1997, WinWin is the dancer, vocalist, and rapper of NCT and the lead dancer, lead rapper, sub-vocalist, and visual of WAYV. EXO’s song “Growl” is what inspired him to be an idol, and he trained in traditional Chinese dance in the past. His hobbies include watching movies, swimming, and playing the piano.
8. Yibo (UNIQ)
Born on August 5, 1997, Yibo is the main dancer, rapper, vocalist, visual, and maknae of UNIQ. He has unique skills such as doing yo-yo and beatboxing, and he also enjoys skateboarding. Some of his favorite artists are BIGBANG, Chris Brown, Kanye West, Rihanna, and Beyoncé.
9. Jaebin (VARSITY)
Born on February 13, 1997, Jaebin is a vocalist of VARSITY. He’s the “translator” of the group, speaking both Korean and Chinese fluently, and his hobbies include studying Korean and taking selfies. His favorite artists are Hyukoh, Chanyeol (EXO), Lee Hyori, and Nam Joohyuk.
10. Xin (VARSITY)
Born on November 10, 1996, Xin is a vocalist of VARSITY. His hobbies include eating, swimming, and listening to music. His favorite artists are Bruno Mars and Justin Bieber, and he’s known as a lively and humorous member of the group.
11. Yanan (PENTAGON)
Born on October 25, 1996, Yanan is the sub-vocalist and visual of PENTAGON. Previous to being scouted by Cube Entertainment, he was going to be an air steward. He also used to be a swimmer, and can play the erhu, a traditional Chinese instrument. He’s also close friends with SEVENTEEN’s Jun.
12. Jacob (VAV)
Born on September 7, 1996, Jacob is the rapper and vocalist of VAV. His favorite artist is IU, and his hobbies include working out, playing basketball, street dancing, and skateboarding. He has acted and modeled in the past as well.
13. Damon (VARSITY)
Born on July 2, 1996, Damon is the main dancer of VARSITY. He worked as a dance teacher in the past, and has been in many dance crews. He enjoys traveling, and is also known to be a fashionable member of the group.
14. Jun (SEVENTEEN)
Born on June 10, 1996, Jun is the lead dancer and sub-vocalist of SEVENTEEN. He’s part of the performance sub-unit, along with The8. He was an actor in the past in China, and he’s also good at martial arts. He admires NU’EST‘s Ren, as well as Henry Lau and Super Junior-M member Zhoumi. His hobbies are acting, singing, doing martial arts, playing the piano, and playing on his phone.
15. Longguo (former JBJ)
Born on March 2, 1996, Longguo is the former main vocalist of JBJ and now a solo artist under Choon Entertainment. He’s also a former member of the duo Longguo&Shihyun, and is a former contestant of season 2 of Produce 101, where he placed 21st. He admires Crush, and his hobbies are sleeping, watching movies, and playing games.
16. Kun (WAYV)
Born on January 1, 1996, Kun is the leader, main vocalist, and sub-rapper of WAYV. Jason Mraz‘s song “I Won’t Give Up” inspired him to become an idol. He can play the piano, and is also a great chef and good at magic tricks. His hobbies include performing magic tricks, listening to music, and taking pictures of airplanes, and when he was young he wanted to be an astronaut.
17. Wenhan (UNIQ)
Born on July 22, 1994, Wenhan is a vocalist of UNIQ. He plays classical guitar and piano, and is able to speak Chinese, Korean, and English. His hobbies are swimming, beatboxing, and playing basketball, and he enjoys other types of sports as well. His favorite artists include Justin Timberlake, Ne-yo, Beyoncé, and Usher. He’s also known as the mood-maker of UNIQ.
18. Lay (EXO)
Born on October 7, 1991, Lay is the main dancer, sub-vocalist, and sub-rapper of EXO, though he’s currently inactive and promoting more as a solo artist. He has served as an ambassador to many different companies, including Valentino, Huawei Nova, Perrier, Milka, and Converse. He has also acted in various Chinese movies.
19. Yixuan (UNIQ)
Born on December 11, 1990, Yixuan is the leader, lead rapper, and vocalist of UNIQ. He decided he wanted to be an idol after seeing Rain‘s Beijing concert, and he was scouted while participating in Keep on Dancing, a large Asian dance competition. His hobbies are working out, bowling, and playing table tennis, and he’s also skilled in composing and doing Rubik’s cubes.
20. Zhoumi (Super Junior-M)
Born on April 19, 1986, Zhoumi is the main vocalist and rapper of Super Junior-M (though their status as an active group is in question). He’s the tallest member of Super Junior, and is also one of their most fashionable members. He has written many of the lyrics for Super Junior-M’s songs, and is also a member of SM the Ballad.
