4 Korean Actors Who Got Boycotted Due To Scandals
While there have been plenty of K-Pop idols who’ve gotten boycotted due to scandals, there have also been several Korean actors who experienced this. Here’s a list of a few Korean actors who got boycotted due to scandals.
1. Lee Kyung Young
When the K-Drama The World of The Married was airing, cast member Lee Kyung Young got boycotted.
That’s because, in 2002, he was arrested for the prostitution of a minor. It was revealed that Lee Kyung Young had told an underage actress that he would secure a role for her in future movies in exchange for having sex with him. He was soon found guilty of his crimes and was given a suspended sentence to 10 months of prison with 2 years of probation, in addition to 160 hours of community service.
Since then, Lee Kyung Young has been looked at negatively by the Korean general public and has been boycotted whenever he appears on broadcasts.
2. Han Ji Sun
In 2019, it was revealed that Han Ji Sun had gotten drunk and physically assaulted a taxi driver. She reportedly slapped a taxi driver in the face and hit him in the head with a thermos. Not only that, but when she was taken to the police station, she reportedly slapped, bit, and kicked a police officer.
A month after this incident, she became a brand model for We Make Price. People were not happy about this, and some even threatened to boycott against the company for choosing Han Ji Sun as a model.
However, the company later released a statement on how they were not aware of Han Ji Sun’s scandal and that she was only a temporary model.
We did not know about the assault during the contract period. Because she was a temporary model, the contract was expired after 3 months. We are currently reviewing legal measures that can be taken for the damage to our image.

3. Ahn Jae Hyun
In 2019, it was revealed that Ahn Jae Hyun and Goo Hye Sun were going to get divorced.
Ahn Jae Hyun faced major criticism from Korean netizens once this was announced, as he even got boycotted. This was because Goo Hye Sun made claims that Ahn Jae Hyun belittled her and that he reportedly cheated on her. While none of this was proven to be true, netizens still harshly criticized Ahn Jae Hyun.
However, it was later revealed that a lot of the claims made by Goo Hye Sun were false. In 2020, the two got divorced and decided to cheer each other on in the future, and the outrage towards Ahn Jae Hyun is now essentially gone.
4. Park Han Byul
Park Han Byul got boycotted not for a scandal that she did, but for one her husband did. Park Han Byul’s husband, Yoo In Suk, was revealed to have been one of the members of Jung Joon Young‘s chatroom, where they would share illegal photos and videos of women.
At the time when this occurred, Park Han Byul was starring in the K-Drama Love In Sadness. Netizens began demanding for Park Han Byul to get kicked off the show and that they would boycott if she wasn’t kicked off. However, the production team ended up keeping Park Han Byul, as the scandal was one involving her husband.
There are no plans to change Love In Sadness. This won’t call for any official statements. The current scandal doesn’t deal with Park Han Byul, but her husband. The broadcast will continue on without any changes.
