4 K-Pop Idols Who Faced Immense Backlash From Netizens This Year
2020 has been a crazy year for K-Pop, as a lot of idols faced immense backlash from netizens this year due to their actions. Here’s a list of four K-Pop idols who experienced this.
1. Jimin (Former member of AOA)
Former AOA member Jimin faced immense backlash after it was revealed that she had bullied Mina during their time together in the group. Mina shared multiple posts on her Instagram account about how much Jimin tormented her.
While Jimin tried to deny Mina’s claims, Mina made more posts on her Instagram about how much trauma Jimin caused. Jimin’s image took a massive hit due to all of this, and it eventually caused her to leave AOA and the entertainment industry.
2. Jaejoong (JYJ)
On March 31st, 2020, Jaejoong shared on his Instagram account that he had contracted the Coronavirus (COVID-19).
I have contracted Coronavirus.
It was careless of me to live disregarding all of the cautions provided by the government and those around me.
Just how big could one individual’s behavior impact all of society be…
I am sorry to those who could have been infected by me.
The stupid judgments I made, it’s how I became like this. I lived thinking it would never happen to me.
I am currently hospitalized.
I currently feel grateful and apologetic, reflecting on my past.
There are so many things I want to say…
There are so many people I want to see…
— Jaejoong
However, the very next day, Jaejoong shared that it was an April Fool’s joke, and this didn’t end well for him, as he got immense backlash from netizens for his “joke”. A lot of Jaejoong’s schedules even got canceled due to the amount of backlash he was facing.
3. Kim Woojin (Former member of Stray Kids)
Kim Woojin recently was accused of sexual assault, drugging and impregnating a fansite, and creating a false company. While Kim Woojin’s company released a statement denying these claims, he still faced immense backlash from netizens due to all of the accusations. In fact, former fans of Kim Woojin even destroyed their merch in response to all of this.
Haha throwing the trash out! I can't believe I said 9 or none lmao it's 8 after all! I'll rip every single picture of Woojin out of my journal. Fuck everything I'm so sad and disappointed. I have to change my username ugh pic.twitter.com/eZRxNRn1gU

4. Hongbin (Former member of VIXX)
During a live broadcast on Twitch, Hongbin made some comments about certain idol groups and songs that many found to be disrespectful. One song he criticized was SHINee‘s “Everybody”.
Who mixes this kind of idol music with band music? It sucks
— Hongbin
Hongbin later released an apology regarding his comments.
I think it was my mistake. Everything was my mistake. I started streaming on Twitch because I wanted to broadcast my gameplays, so I have been cautious not to mention anything related to my primary job. But I was drunk last night. I wanted to differentiate my persona as a Twitch streamer from my idol persona but I ended up crossing the line.
