5 Times BTS Got To Collaborate With Their Musical Idols
There are many memorable collaboration projects that BTS have worked on over the course of their almost decade-long career. And looking back, it is incredible to see how many of those were with personalities they have always looked up to as musicians.
Here are 5 of the most iconic BTS collaborations that made them the most successful fanboys ever!
1. Tiger JK
The group’s leader RM has always emphasized his love and appreciation for Tiger JK’s music. He got to collaborate with the legend himself twice. The first project was a feature on the 2015 song “Buckubucku” with Tiger JK’s rap group MFBTY. The second time RM worked with his idol was on the song “Timeless” from the album Drunken Tiger X: Rebirth of Tiger JK that came out in 2018.
He featured on the track and was highly appreciated by Tiger JK, as he had expected RM to brag about his success on the verse but he talked about his idol’s legacy instead.
when writing timeless tiger jk asked namjoon to brag about himself but instead joonie wrote an homage to his "dad" as he calls tiger jk in his verse 🥺 here he tells the story of how touched he felt when joon first sent him his verse pic.twitter.com/LYIYRqvbrP

2. Seo Taiji
In 2017, BTS remade Seo Taiji and The Boys‘ song “Come Back Home” for Seo Taiji’s 25th Anniversary Remake Project. Later that year, they were invited to perform with the the father of modern K-Pop himself. They joined Seo Taiji on stage during his 25th-anniversary concert at the Jamsil Olympic Stadium. This is where Seo Taiji passed on the rhetoric torch to BTS and acknowledged them as his successors, saying, “This is your generation now”.
3. Epik High
Though all the members of BTS seem to admire Epik High’s music, rapper Suga is perhaps the biggest fan of the trio in the group. It was a full circle moment when he got to produce the track of Epik High’s 2019 song “Eternal Sunshine” on the album Sleepless in __________.
4. Charlie Puth
BTS’s maknae Jungkook has gone on record naming Charlie Puth as one of his musical idols numerous times. The two collaborated for the first time during the 2018 Melon Music Awards, where they performed Charlie’s song “We Don’t Talk Anymore” together. Recently the two reunited for “Left And Right,” an upbeat pop record that has been very well received worldwide.
5. Coldplay
BTS’s Jin has been very open about his appreciation for the band Coldplay for years. Last year both the groups collaborated on a song called “My Universe” that nearly broke the internet. Chris Martin went to South Korea to meet BTS in person and do the vocal recording with them. He ended up gifting his guitar to Jin before leaving the country.
2017: is there an artist you want to collab with or you admire?
Jin: I like Coldplay a lot. They're so amazing that it's not a collaboration, but I'm always rooting for them from afar.
