It is well known that a lot of behind the scenes work goes into each K-Pop comeback. From deciding on a concept, selecting the outfits, creating and learning the choreography, to finally executing the performance on stage. It is part of what makes K-Pop so unique and beloved. These 5 mesmerizing stages are a must-see!
1. SEVENTEEN’s “Darl+ing” at Sukkiri!!
SEVENTEEN released their first English single, “Darl+ing” on April 15, 2022. The track is a fun, pop love song, perfect for spring. The members recently took the stage on the Japanese variety show Sukkiri!! to promote their new single. While the set itself wasn’t overly extravagant, the serene backdrop with the member’s monochromatic outfits made for an aesthetically pleasing performance.
2. BLACKPINK’s Lisa’s performance of “CLASSY SAVAGE” at Mnet’s Kingdom: Legendary War
On May 20, 2021’s broadcast of Mnet‘s Kingdom: Legendary War, BLACKPINK‘s Lisa stopped by in support of her labelmates iKON. Together they performed a retitled version of BLACKPINK’s 2020 hit, “Pretty Savage” to the surprise of fellow Kingdom contestants.
The camera panned forward and Lisa’s undeniable charisma clued contestant’s into the surprise guest before her face could be seen. Positioned on the top of a staircase was Lisa on a golden throne. Lisa wore a gold chain hat and outfit to complement the stage.
3. Stray Kids’ 2020 MAMA performance of “Victory Song”
The Mnet Asian Music Awards (also known as MAMA) are known for their elaborate stages. The year end award ceremony gathers the best of the best to perform in front of the world. Stray Kids took this opportunity to put on a powerful performance of their song “Victory Song” for the 2020 MAMA.
The lights, the props, the dynamic background screens and the members came together for one legendary performance.
4. OH MY GIRL’s YooA’s “Bon Voyage” at Inkigayo
OH MY GIRL‘s YooA was one with nature during promotions for her solo debut, “Bon Voyage”. Her fantasy-like style and stage perfectly portrayed the melodic and fun song.
In particular, her Inkigayo stage incorporated vines, string lights, flowers and prop trees to allow us to enter into her fairy tale.
5. BTS‘s “Black Swan” at The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon
BTS‘s “Black Swan” is not only a beautiful song, but each performance has been breathtaking as well. It was hard to pick one stage, but the mixture of CGI with the cathedral ruins, plants and fog in this performance made this stage very ethereal which was fitting for the song and its choreography.
