5 Moments In K-Pop That Had Netizens Furious
There have been plenty of frustrating moments in K-Pop, and sometimes, these moments cause netizens to have big reactions. Here are 5 moments in K-Pop that had netizens furious.
1. Former 2NE1 member Minzy revealing what Yang Hyun Suk told the group
In an interview with Billboard, former 2NE1 member Minzy shared that her former boss, Yang Hyun Suk, constantly told the 2NE1 members that they were “ugly”. Minzy also shared that these comments hurt them, as the group was receiving similar comments from malicious netizens.
People, netizens were critiquing the fact that you know, we were not the prettiest group. We were the ‘ugly group.’ I didn’t know how to process that, I held that in. It was tough. [As a group], we pretended it was not a big deal and tried to forget about it, but you can’t forget about it — it’s tough. I was trying to keep up with the other girls in the group in terms of maturity, but when you’re up against these girl groups who look like models and you’re doing something different — cool, but different — you deal in a different way.”
— Minzy
Not only that, but Minzy also revealed that YG Entertainment kept delaying her solo debut, which ultimately caused her to leave the company.
There wasn’t enough focus to finish my stuff.
They kept delaying it and then when it comes to basically everything else, you don’t know the details.
— Minzy
After Minzy shared this, many netizens were furious at Yang Hyun Suk.
Minzy's Billboard article:
I'm tearing up. She was under a considerable amount of pain. Her boss and the society she lived in condemned her group for being born with faces that didn't fit the mold. This is why I get so angry when people come after Gfriend's looks. pic.twitter.com/P1Ugh65ILM

2ne1, individually, were all struggling secretly. I'm convinced that each of them were trying to hide their demons coz they don't want to hurt the people closest to them. I'm glad Minzy left. Mental health comes first. YG is an idiot who dont deserve any of them.

2. Former Nine Muses member Kyungri revealing how the company CEO mistreated her
In 2016, Kyungri revealed that Star Empire Entertainment‘s CEO, Shin Joo Hak, often ignored her greetings whenever they bumped into each other. Kyungri also shared that Shin Joo Hak didn’t do this to other people in the company, such as ZE:A‘s Siwan.
After Kyungri revealed this, many netizens were furious, as they believed that the CEO only treated people with respect if they were popular.
“Even in university, some seniors would make a big deal about greeting them, and once you do just ignore you and walk by…..I hate those people that CEO probably has a bad personality too.”
“Now I can understand why Kwanghee was so desperate to join Infinite Challenge. The CEO only treats you like a human being if you’re popular. He must have been so stressed out when the CEO only cared for Siwan and Hyungsik. This is seriously a problem with the agency.”
— Netizens
Kyungri eventually left Star Empire Entertainment in 2019, and some believe that she threw some shade at the company as soon as she left.

What are you doing, covering [their legs] up? We’re trying to show them, why are you covering it? Are you stupid?
— Male staff
Netizens were furious due to this male staff member, and some said that the members were getting sexually harassed.
“What kind of man is that male staff?”
“I think if I was their parents, my heart would collapse after seeing that.”
“I feel so upset, seeing the members’ faces.”
— Netizens
Not long after, Fanatics’ agency, FENT, released an apology.
