9 Female Idols Who Boldly Exposed Their "Thong Straps"

The “under-boob” fashion trend was a topic of discussion in K-Pop history, and another trend that was on rise at the same with equally mixed reactions was the visible thong trend. K-Pop idols have been wearing or imitating the “visible thong straps” trend that was more prevalent in Western fashion in the late 1990s to early 2000s.

Here are nine female K-Pop idols that brought the trend back to life and looking amazing in their respective looks!

1. LIGHTSUM’s Chowon

Chowon wore the trend in a dance challenge video with fellow member Jungwoo for LIGHTSUM‘s single “Alive.”

2. LE SSERAFIM’s Sakura

LE SSERAFIM‘s Sakura creatively tied strings to create the look of the “visible thong” fashion trend. Sakura wore the outfit while promoting “FEARLESS” on SBS‘s The Show.

3. MAMAMOO’s Solar

MAMAMOO‘s Solar wore the trend on two separate occasions, both times in fashionable monochromatic outfits.

4. APink’s Bomi

APink‘s second sub-unit, APink CHOBOM, consisting of members Bomi and Chorong released their first album Copycat. While promoting their title tracks, Bomi wore trendy pants that gave the appearance of the “visible thong” trend.

5. BLACKPINK’s Jennie

Forever ahead of the latest trends, BLACKPINK‘s Jennie wore the mock “visible thong” trend with body chains in October 2020.

6. TWICE’s Nayeon

TWICE‘s Nayeon wore a lacy version of the trend during her solo debut. She rocked the outfit in her “POP!” music video and while promoting on music shows.

7. STAYC’s Yoon

STAYC‘s Yoon appears to have tied string similarly to LE SSERAFIM’s Sakura to re-create the trendy look. Yoon also wore the outfit on SBS’s The Show for STAYC’s “Beautiful Monster” promotions.

8. TWICE’s Momo

Momo wore a purple stage outfit for TWICE’s Japanese single “Celebration” performance on the Japanese music program Music Station. The wrapping around her waist gave the illusion that Momo had joined the trend. The skillful angles added to the illusion.
