“Big 4” Executives And More Vote On The Best K-Pop Artists Of 2024
A panel of 34 industry leaders — including top executives from major K-Pop companies — has named the best artists of 2024 through a survey held by News1.
The survey included key decision-makers like Ji Won Kim (Chief Revenue Officer at SM Entertainment), Moon Young Yang (Director at YG Entertainment), Jin Ho Jung (General Manager at HYBE), Seo Yoon Lee (Team Leader at JYP Entertainment), Ji Hyun Lee (Head of Division at Starship Entertainment), and Yong Hwan Lee (Director at The Black Label) along with many others from prominent companies.
1. aespa
Garnering 12 out of 34 votes, aespa was crowned the top artist of the year. Known for their unique “metallic sound” and engaging storytelling, the girl group captivated fans with hits like “Supernova,” “Armageddon,” and “Whiplash.” Their consistent success across domestic and global music charts, including multiple Billboard entries and Spotify milestones, cemented their position as leaders in the K-Pop scene. According to News1, multiple executives praised aespa’s originality and their ability to blend artistic creativity with mainstream appeal.
2. DAY6
DAY6, the popular K-Pop band, came close behind and secured the second spot with 8 votes. The group experienced a resurgence this year, with many of their past songs gaining new attention. Based on the News1 report, the panel of executives praised DAY6’s consistent dedication to music and their historic performance at Gocheok Sky Dome, a first for any K-Pop band.
3. BLACKPINK’s Rosé
Coming in third with 6 votes, BLACKPINK‘s Rosé stood out for her global collaboration with Bruno Mars on the hit track “APT.” Industry leaders applauded her ability to create a global sensation and showcase her solo potential through the song’s success. Her album Rosie was also enjoyed by many fans not only in South Korea but from all over the world.
