3 Times Other Celebrities Stood Up For BTS Against Malicious Attacks
BTS is beloved by many people worldwide, and when they receive unnecessary criticism, other celebrities often will stand up for them.
Here are 3 of these moments.
1. Singer Lee Hyun defending BTS while in the military
Singer Lee Hyun and BTS are labelmates, and Lee Hyun once revealed that he stood up for BTS when he was in the military.
When Lee Hyun was in the military, BTS had their first comeback, and Lee Hyun watched them perform on music shows. Some of Lee Hyun’s military juniors saw BTS performing and said, “What kind of name is Bangtan Sonyeondan (meaning Bulletproof Boyscouts)?”
Lee Hyun then firmly told these military juniors, “Do you not like the name? They’re from my label.” Lee Hyun’s military juniors were surprised and said, “Now that I think about it, I think the name is quite memorable.”
2. Several artists standing up for BTS and Asian communities against racist comments
In early 2021, German radio host Matthias Matuschik from radio station BAYERN 3 received backlash for his comments about BTS. While he did soon issue an apology, many felt that it was lackluster.

Many people then started defending BTS and Asian communities, including several Western artists.
standing by my @bts_bighit brothers and everyone continuously effected by racist remarks as hurtful as what we heard on Bayern 3. no one should have to endure this and together we must stand up and stop it

BTS is one of the hardest working and most humble groups in the industry. They deserve all the success they’ve earned. Hearing such hateful words used against them by the radio host at Bayern 3 made me sick. The hate to them and the Asian community as a whole is unacceptable

3. Author Paulo Coelho being unbothered about getting unfollowed for liking BTS
In 2020, author Paulo Coelho, known for the international bestseller The Alchemist, showed his support for BTS by sending signed copies of his book Hippie to the members.

This isn’t the only time Paulo Coelho showed love to BTS, as he congratulated them on the success of their song “Butter.”
After congratulating BTS, Paulo Coelho shared that he lost some followers due to his support of BTS. Paulo Coelho, however, was unbothered and said that he would continue to support BTS!
Bonus: Tottenham Hotspur F.C defending BTS against netizens comments
When BTS was about to perform at the Wembley Stadium in London, professional soccer club Tottenham Hotspur F.C welcomed them.
Welcome to Wembley, BTS!
The place where Son Heung Min shoots goals and where fans cheer him on! On June 1st, another Korean star, BTS, will be visiting to hold a concert!

Some netizens, however, voiced their concern about if the grass at the stadium would get “ruined” because of BTS’s performances.
- “The grass will be ruined because of the performance.”
- “Isn’t ruining the grass in Korea enough? Do they have to go abroad and do the same?”
- “I’m so worried about the grass.”
Tottenham Hotspur F.C defended BTS from these netizens and said that the grass would be fine.
Concerts have been held regularly at the Wembley Stadium during the off-season. Last summer, Talyor Swift and Ed Sheeran held a performance, and this summer, the stadium will be hosting BTS followed by Spice Girls, Bon Jovi, Eagles, and Pink. Please don’t worry too much. We are looking forward to seeing other representative stars of South Korea alongside Son Heung Min!
