BTS Changed The Numbers On Their Mugshot Boards, Here’s What They Mean
BTS held their PERMISSION TO DANCE ON STAGE concert for fans online on October 24. The concert began with a VCR (pre-recorded video) that was reminiscent of two of BTS’s most iconic music videos, “MIC Drop” and “Butter.” It shows the members in an investigation room followed by clips of them in a police lineup.
While there were a lot of similarities to the original music videos, ARMY noticed that there were some major differences. The numbers on the members’ mugshot boards had changed. So, here are both the original and new numbers and their meanings for each member…
1. RM
In the “Butter” MV, the bottom number on RM’s mugshot board is clearly his birthday, September 12, 1994. During BTS’s comeback live broadcast, he revealed that the top number references his old home address.
A long time ago, I used to live in an apartment building number 507 and the flat number 904. So, I just put the building and flat number.
— RM
For PERMISSION TO DANCE ON STAGE, RM’s top number changed from “201904” to “180924.”
The new number is for September 24, 2018, the date BTS attended their first United Nations General Assembly, in which RM delivered his memorable speech.
2. Jin
Jin’s bottom number was, like RM, his birthday, December 4, 1992.
Jin claimed the other numbers were random…
They asked me to give a number, so I just opened my phone and just punched in whatever on the keypad and sent it.
— Jin
Still, ARMY found a greater meaning behind it!
For PERMISSION TO DANCE ON STAGE, Jin’s top number changed from “655212” to “101101.”
Jin’s numbers left ARMY confused again until one ARMY finally realized its true meaning! In pager, “101101” translates to “I feel good.”

3. Suga
Suga’s bottom number is his birthday, March 9, 1993. Similar to Jin, Suga also chose his top numbers by using his phone’s keypad.
I was thinking about the number I like, but that would end up giving such an obvious pattern. I got like 3333 or something. So, I was the same as Jin. I just opened my phone and [typing sounds].
— Suga
In PERMISSION TO DANCE ON STAGE, “384627” changed to a number with much greater significance.
The new number is “130613,” clearly referencing June 13, 2013, the day BTS made their debut.
4. J-Hope
J-Hope’s bottom number is also his birthday, February 18, 1994. Rather than be a random number, his top number is actually a pager code with a sweet message: “kiss” in Korean 뽀뽀 (bbo bbo).
It’s a kiss. Yes, I just went with…I looked up pager codes that have nice meanings. I looked them up, but that was the one I found with six digits. I thought it would be fun so I chose 66066.
— J-Hope
Like Suga, J-Hope’s new number is a reference to a date in BTS history.
“141017” is October 17, 2014. It is the date of the beginning of their first headling tour, BTS Live Trilogy Episode II.
5. Jimin
Jimin’s bottom number is his birthday, October 13, 1995, but this top number was very similar to J-Hope’s new number.
“I put the thing for our first concert,” Jimin explained his number. October 18, 2014, was the second day of BTS’s concert in Seoul that kicked off their first headling tour, BTS Live Trilogy Episode II: The Red Bullet.
For PERMISSION TO DANCE ON STAGE, Jimin’s top number changed from “141018” to “1365244.”
This new number is representative of Jimin’s iconic line, “I love you 24 hours, 365 days a year.” He said this in episode 136 of Run BTS!.
6. V
V’s bottom number is his birthday, December 30, 1995. For his bottom number, Jin was curious and asked V if he had chosen his top number to declare he is number one, but that wasn’t the original intention.
“Well, it had some meaning back in the days,” V explained. “In the Cyworld vibe back in the days, 0000001 would be…Coding things like ‘I miss you or something.” Still, his members weren’t buying it, so V gave up and said, “Mine is with the mind that I’ll be number one.”
For PERMISSION TO DANCE ON STAGE, V’s top number changed from “000001” to “200901.”
“200901” signifies another important BTS date. September 1, 2020, KST was the day BTS received their first No. 1 on Billboard Hot 100 chart with “Dynamite.”
7. Jungkook
Jungkook’s bottom number is his birthday, September 1, 1997. His top number was profound as it represented a date that changed the course of the maknae‘s life.
I had 110604. The day I first moved into the dorms…
— Jungkook
For PERMISSION TO DANCE ON STAGE, Jungkook’s top number changed from “110604” to “190601.”
“190601” is for June 1, 2019. This is the first day of BTS’s Love Yourself: Speak Yourself World Tour, in which they played at Wembley Stadium.
