“Girls Planet 999” 1st Eliminations: Here Are The New “Top 9” Contestants
Girls Planet 999‘s first elimination round is finally over, with just 54 contestants out of the original 99 trainees making it through to the next round. With episode five also came a new “Top 9” ranking—here are all the contestants who scored a highly coveted spot on the list.
9. Kim Chaehyun
Kim Chaehyun made her debut in the “Top 9” this round, ranking 9th with 1,704,528 points.
Kim Chaehyun has been one of the most popular contestants since before the Girls Planet 999 even premiered, racking up 160,000 views on her introductory video within one week. Performing aespa‘s “Black Mamba” with the “Cuties” team for her first stage on the show, Chaehyun initially ranked 23rd overall in K-Group.
Then, for her Connect Mission stage, she performed TWICE‘s “Yes or Yes,” reaching 360,000 views on her individual fancam so far. This week, her cell (with Kuwahara Ayana and Li Yiman) made it to no.5 in the elimination round.
8. Yeseo (former Busters)
Kang Yeseo ranked 8th with 1,744,198 points, falling six places since the last ranking in episode two.
Previously debuting in the since-disbanded girl group Busters, Yeseo was one of the trainees with all eyes on her when Girls Planet 999 began. Performing 4Minute‘s “Crazy” with the “Monster Baby” team for her first stage on the show, Yeseo initially ranked 13th overall in K-Group.
Then, for her Connect Mission stage, she performed IZ*ONE‘s “Fiesta,” reaching 788,000 views on her individual fancam so far. This week, her cell (with Huang Xingqiao and Sakamoto Mashiro) made it to no.4 in the elimination round.
7. Cai Bing
Cai Bing ranked 7th with 2,361,224 points, moving up one place from episode two’s ranking.
Cai Bing’s introductory video was one of the top five most-watched C-Group contestant clips before Girls Planet 999‘s premiere. Performing CLC‘s “Helicopter” with the “Strong Girls” team for her first stage on the show, Bing initially ranked 28th overall in K-Group.
Then, for her Connect Mission stage, she performed BLACKPINK‘s “How You Like That,” reaching 190,000 views on her individual fancam so far. This week, her cell (with CLC‘s Yujin and Cherry Bullet‘s May) made it to first place in the elimination round.
6. Su Ruiqi
Su Ruiqi ranked 6th with 2,598,795 points, falling two places since episode two’s ranking.
Within the first week of C-Group’s introductory videos dropping on YouTube, Su Ruiqi’s was the most-watched with over 100,000 views. Performing Chungha‘s “Snapping” solo for her first stage on the show, Ruiqi initially ranked second overall in C-Group.
Then, for her Connect Mission stage, she performed EXO‘s “The Eve,” reaching 857,000 views on her individual fancam so far. This week, her cell (with Jeong Jiyoon and Ezaki Hikaru) made it to no.3 in the elimination round.
5. Sakamoto Mashiro
Sakamoto Mashiro ranked 5th with 2,784,657 points, making her debut in the show’s “Top 9”.
Sakamoto Mashiro had the second-most-watched introductory video from J-Group within just a week. Performing (G)I-DLE‘s “DUMDi DUMDi” with the “December Girl” duo for her first stage on the show, Mashiro initially ranked second overall in J-Group.
Then, for her Connect Mission stage, she performed IZ*ONE’s “Fiesta,” reaching 1 million views on her individual fancam so far. This week, her cell (with former Busters’ Yeseo and Huang Xingqiao) made it to no.4 in the elimination round.
4. Yujin (CLC)
CLC’s Choi Yujin ranked 4th with 3,119,661 points, moving up three places from episode two’s ranking.
Debuting in CLC six years ago, Yujin is undoubtedly one of the most famous contestants on Girls Planet 999. Performing HyunA‘s “Bubble Pop!” solo for her first stage on the show, Yujin initially ranked sixth overall in K-Group.
Then, for her Connect Mission stage, she performed BLACKPINK’s “How You Like That,” reaching 960,000 views on her individual fancam so far. This week, her cell (with Cai Bing and Cherry Bullet’s May) made it to first place in the elimination round.
3. Ezaki Hikaru
Ezaki Hikaru ranked 3rd with 3,138,429 points, falling two places since episode two’s ranking.
With over 200,000 views, Ezaki Hikaru’s introductory video had the highest views out of J-Group in the first week. Performing BLACKPINK’s “BOOMBAYAH” with the “Burn Crush” team for her first stage on the show, Hikaru initially ranked first overall in J-Group.
Then, for her Connect Mission stage, she performed EXO‘s “The Eve,” reaching 1.7 million views on her individual fancam so far. This week, her cell (with Jeong Jiyoon and Su Ruiqi) made it to no.3 in the elimination round.
2. Shen Xiaoting
Shen Xiaoting ranked 2nd with 3,919,277 points, moving up one place from episode two’s ranking.
This isn’t Shen Xiaoting’s first survival show. She also competed on China’s Produce Camp 2020 last year, ranking in the top 80 overall. Performing Produce 48‘s “Rumor” with the “Visual Killer” team for her first stage on the show, Xiaoting initially ranked first overall in C-Group.
Then, for her Connect Mission stage, she performed BLACKPINK’s “How You Like That,” reaching 358,000 views on her individual fancam so far. This week, her cell (with Seo Yeongeun and Kawaguchi Yurina) made it to no.2 in the elimination round.
1. Kawaguchi Yurina
And finally, Kawaguchi Yurina debuted in the “Top 9” for the first time and swept the no.1 spot with 4,446,387 points.
Kawaguchi Yurina first made her debut in the since-disbanded J-Pop group X21 five years ago, so eyes have been on her for a while. Performing TWICE’s “Fancy” with the “Crystal Girls” team for her first stage on the show, Yurina initially ranked ninth overall in J-Group.
Then, for her Connect Mission stage, she performed BLACKPINK’s “How You Like That,” reaching 587,000 views on her individual fancam so far. This week, her cell (with Shen Xiaoting and Seo Yeongeun) made it to no.2 in the elimination round.
