5 K-Pop Idols Who Created Their Own Fashion Brands
Every idol has their own personal style, but some are such fashionistas that they decided to start their very own clothing brands. Here are five K-Pop stars taking over the fashion world with their unique lines.
1. Jackson (GOT7)
Back in July 2020, GOT7’s Jackson finally launched his long-awaited high-end apparel brand, TEAM WANG Design. Alongside being the brand’s founder and CEO, Jackson is also the designer and creative director of TEAM WANG Design, giving him full input on every clothing collection he releases.
TEAM WANG Design launched with an eight-piece line called “Cookies – The Original.” Since then, several other lines and collaborations have been released, including a capsule collection inspired by Paris and the famous impressionist painter Claude Monet.
2. Baekhyun (EXO)
EXO-Ls were ecstatic in May 2018 when VOGUE magazine revealed that EXO’s Baekhyun would be teaming up with Privé Alliance to launch his very own brand: Privé by BBH. When Danyl Geneciran became Privé’s new brand director, he personally selected Baekhyun as a collaborator after searching for someone who could truly become part of the brand. Now, Baekhyun is Privé’s co-creative director.
Baekhyun once revealed that he wants his clothing brand to encourage wearers to be fearless. His latest interlude capsule collection, features iridescent rainbows, said to showcase yet another part of Baekhyun himself. Another recent item, the “HOPE” necklace, was created by Baekhyun to send a message of hope to everyone during a difficult time.
3. Namjoo (Apink)
Apink’s Namjoo launched her very own fashion and lifestyle brand, Sugar Please, in February 2019. Her comfortable yet cute collection of hoodies, dresses, two-piece looks, and more quickly became a hit with international fans and fellow idol friends. Plus, Namjoo also sold jewelry, art, and even food under the brand.
Sugar Please later collaborated with cosmetics brand Pure Theory, with Namjoo serving as the creative director for a makeup series embodying her experience with personal styling. The Sugar Please website is currently closed to customers, but fans are hoping it will open again soon one day.
4. G-Dragon
G-Dragon has always been known for his creativity and artistic nature, so it came as little surprise when he opened an art exhibition in 2015—”Peaceminusone: Beyond the Stage”—with over 200 works of art. In October the following year, the name popped up again in the form of G-Dragon’s very own fashion brand, Peaceminusone.
Peaceminusone has since opened physical stores and pop-ups around the world, from Seoul to London to Miami. Today, the high-end brand includes everything from $15 USD stickers to stunning padded jackets worth almost $500 USD.
5. Donghae (Super Junior)
Along with his brother Donghwa, Super Junior’s Donghae revealed his fashion brand TEMPUS STUDIO in August 2018. The family business defines itself as a streetwear brand, showing off a bright and trendy style.
One thing TEMPUS does amazingly is graphic t-shirts, with an extensive collection of unique printed tees retailing for around $40 USD. Other popular items available right now include sportswear and co-ord loungewear sets.
