5 “Disappointing” K-Drama Series That Viewers Stopped Watching In December
When an exciting, new show is announced, K-Drama fans eagerly add it to their watch lists. Unfortunately, some highly anticipated new series, as well as previously released series, fell flat for viewers in December 2024.
1. When the Phone Rings
In this Netflix romance thriller, everything changes for an unhappily married couple after the wife–a court sign language interpreter–is kidnapped. Although When the Phone Rings has plenty of fans, some viewers just weren’t blown away by the plot or the cast.

2. Check-In Hanyang
This Joseon-era period drama follows four interns who work at a prestigious guesthouse. None of them are who they claim to be. One is a woman disguised as a man, another a prince in disguise. The third intern is the guesthouse’s heir who has no desire to inherit the business, and the fourth is a man in serious need of cash.
Some viewers who tuned in for gender-bending shenanigans liked the idea of the show but felt that the execution was underwhelming.

5. Love Your Enemy
This romantic drama follows childhood rivals from enemy families who reunite years later as employees at the school they once attended. One is now the high school’s chairman, the other a physical education teacher. Will their families’ grudges live on through them?
Some viewers felt that the younger versions of the leads outshone their present-day adult counterparts. According to these viewers, the younger characters had more chemistry and maturity.
