5 “Disappointing” K-Drama Series That Viewers Stopped Watching In November
When an exciting, new show is announced, K-Drama fans eagerly add it to their watch lists. Unfortunately, some highly anticipated new series fell flat for viewers in November 2024.
1. Family by Choice
Family by Choice is a new Korean series based on the 2020 Chinese drama Go Ahead. It follows three unrelated people who form a found family during their teen years, and the difficulties their strong bond is tested by years later.
Some viewers who dropped the series couldn’t stand certain characters, while others disliked the storytelling, particular plot points, and/or the pacing.

2. Gangnam B-Side
In this Disney+ crime K-Drama, a demoted detective, a criminal, and a prosecutor all have different reasons for wanting to unravel the mystery behind a series of disappearances in Gangnam. The show starts off gritty, and sadly there seems to be no light at the end of the tunnel.
The shocking, untimely death of a main character turned some viewers off the series, while others were put off by the “trauma after trauma” plot, pacing, and moral direction the series was taking.

3. When the Phone Rings
In this Netflix romance thriller, everything changes for an unhappily married couple who wed for convenience after the wife–a court sign language interpreter–is kidnapped. Unlike some of the other series on this list, viewers didn’t necessarily drop When the Phone Rings because they felt it was poorly written or plotted. Quite the opposite.
These viewers disliked the “unsettling,” “super messed up” relationship between the leads enough to switch to a new series. Others decided to stay along for the ride while putting some mental distance between themselves and the characters’ red flags.

4. Mr. Plankton
A series of events reunites a listless man with his ex-girlfriend, an unlucky bride-to-be. In this Netflix series, the two take off on her wedding day to track down the man’s father together.
In the show, the male lead kidnaps the female lead, and that “toxic” premise was enough to sour the rest of the series for some viewers. Others were angered by the characters’ decision-making (or lack thereof).

5. Love Your Enemy
This romantic drama follows childhood rivals from enemy families who reunite years later as employees at the school they once attended. One is now the high school’s chairman, the other a physical education teacher. Will their families’ grudges live on through them?
Some viewers are loving Love Your Enemy, especially the chemistry between the lead and the budding love story between their younger selves. Unfortunately, this show also struck a little too close to home for some viewers who compared it to Love Next Door, and not in a positive way.
