5 K-Pop Idols Who Were Falsely Accused Of Drug Use
With how firm drug usage laws in Korea are when celebrities are accused of substance abuse, it often results in heavy consequences for those found to be guilty. On the other hand, several K-Pop idols have been accused of drug use, only to be cleared or it to be unfounded rumors.
Here are six idols that have been falsely accused of drug use.
1. BIGBANG’s G-Dragon
In late October, it was reported that BIGBANG‘s G-Dragon was accused of drug abuse following an investigation into actor Lee Sun Kyun and an alleged high-profile hostess club.
After multiple drug tests, including hair and fingernails, G-Dragon has tested negative each time, as netizens rage against the police.
2. LE SSERAFIM’s Chaewon
LE SSERAFIM‘s Chaewon one of the idols implicated in the round of accusations following Lee Sun Kyun’s allegations.
Source Music quickly denied the claims, and reiterated that she was on hiatus due to the flu.
3. BLACKPINK’s Rose
In April 2023, BLACKPINK‘s Rosé was involved in what many considered to be ridiculous drug use accusations.
The rumors began after a designer, Riccardo Tisci, posted a photo of an intimate gathering. Amongst the attendees were celebrities such as Rosé and actor Kang Dong Won. Rumor-mongers had circled in on a small tray near the left of the table and alleged that there had been drug abuse going on at the house party.
In addition to YG Entertainment strongly reacting to the rumors, Riccardo Tisci also negated the allegations in his own way.
4. Wonho
In October 2019, Wonho was accused of illegally using marijuana , becoming one of the idols affected by the notorious trainee Han Seo Hee. As a result of the accusations, Wonho would exit from MONSTA X.
In March 2020, it was announced that he was cleared of all charges and has since embarked on a solo career.
Wonho actively cooperated with all investigation procedures, including scientific examinations. The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency was unable to find any allegations throughout their extensive investigation over the past 5 months.
They decided on March 10 to dismiss the allegations.

5. (G)I-DLE’s Soyeon
(G)I-DLE‘s Soyeon was another of the idols targeted in the October 2023 allegations.
Cube Entertainment were quick to respond to the rumors, saying legal action would be taken against those defaming the artist.
