These Are The OFFICIAL Top 10 K-Pop Songs Of 2021, Based On Spotify Wrapped
On December 1, Spotify revealed its annual “2021 Wrapped” campaign by announcing the top artists, albums, songs, playlists and podcasts from creators on the platform for over 381 million users worldwide. Included among the data were a variety of topics specifically for the K-Pop genre!
Here’s a look at the 10 top K-Pop songs of 2021, based on the data collected by Spotify.
10. “Ice Cream” by BLACKPINK & Selena Gomez
“Ice Cream” was originally released in August of 2020, and later was listed as the second track on BLACKPINK’s first full-length studio album, The Album, which came out in October of the same year. On Spotify, the song currently has 377 million streams.
9. “Money” by Lisa
Lisa’s long-awaited solo debut finally happened in 2021, and though the title track from her single album was “LALISA”, “Money” ended up being more successful overall! Released on September 10 of this year, the song has accumulated 245 million streams on Spotify in the last few months.
8. “Film Out” by BTS
“Film Out” was released on April 2 as the lead single for BTS’s Japanese-language compilation album, BTS, The Best. Written in part by member Jungkook, the song is the only Japanese-language track on this list, and currently has 150 million streams on Spotify.
7. “On The Ground” by Rosé
BLACKPINK’s Rosé also had her long-awaited solo debut in 2021, with her single album R released on March 12. “On The Ground” served as the lead single on the album, and so far has had 168 million streams on the streaming platform.
6. “Boy With Luv” by BTS ft. Halsey
Though “Boy With Luv” came out all the way back on April 12, 2019, it shows its dominance as one of BTS’s biggest hits by still making it onto this list! This lead single of their Map of the Soul: Persona album has accumulated 767 million streams on Spotify since its release.
5. “How You Like That” by BLACKPINK
“How You Like That” is another song on this list that came out in 2020, yet continues to get tons of streams every day. It was released on June 26, 2020, and later served as one of the main tracks on The Album. Currently, it has 543 million streams on Spotify.
4. “Life Goes On” by BTS
“Life Goes On” is the title track off of BTS’s most recent EP, BE, which came out on November 20, 2020. Though it didn’t blow up as much as one of their other 2020 releases ranked higher on this list, the song has still stayed popular and relevant in 2021, and has 418 million streams on Spotify!
3. “Permission To Dance” by BTS
“Permission To Dance” was released on July 9, 2021, the same day that BTS released the respective single album, Butter. Though “Butter” has overall been more popular, “Permission To Dance” has also done incredibly well, and currently has 337 million streams!
2. “Dynamite” by BTS
Of course “Dynamite” would still make it onto this list, considering it is inarguably BTS’s most popular song to date and has shot them into greater stardom since it came out on August 20 last year. Since its release, it has accumulated a whopping 1.17 billion streams on Spotify, making it the most-streamed K-Pop song on the platform!
1. “Butter” by BTS
And finally, “Butter” takes the crown this year for being the top K-Pop song on Spotify. Released originally on May 21 this year as a digital single, it helped BTS to once again take the world by storm, and has already gained 677 million streams on Spotify.
