5 Times Male K-Pop Idols Were Caught Up In Dating Rumors With Each Other
One thing that some K-Pop idols worry about is appearing too close to a person of the opposite sex and causing dating rumors to spread. Usually, this is resolved by stars mainly sharing their friendships with idols of the same sex, much like the famous 97-Line friendship.
However, this is not always enough to prevent “dating scandals” from happening! Here are a few times male idols have found themselves in dating rumors with each other.
1. Taemin and Kai
SHINee‘s Taemin and EXO‘s Kai have a legendary friendship known even to nonfans! The two have known each other for years as they both trained at SM Entertainment at the same time and are only a year apart in age.
In what would turn out to be Kai’s first “dating scandal”, Dispatch shared photos of the idol and Taemin taking a walk at the Han River and called it a friendship date!
2. Changmin and Minho
TVXQ‘s Changmin and SHINee‘s Minho were first subjected to dating rumors when the two were spotted at a concert in Japan together. At the time, Minho was wearing his hair long and a photographer captured the two at the right moment, making it look like Changmin was on a date with a mystery woman.
Changmin and Minho were both teased for years about the rumors, but recently brought them back themselves! The two idols appeared on a new variety show together, Changminho’s Birdie Buddy, where they could not seem to keep their eyes off of each other!
Fans even began to scold Minho for looking at a married man!
minho: aren’t you being too sexy? woah… you’re so cool. so sexy…

3. All of VIXX
On an episode of Happy Together VIXX‘s Ken was asked about a rumor that he heard about the group. Ken explained that VIXX had never been caught up with any romance rumors, something that the hosts agreed with as true. He then said that people began to assume that they were gay and possibly dating each other.
That [dating rumors] have never happened with our members, so even junior artists would watch our videos and say ‘those two members could be dating’.

This was not the first time a member addressed these rumors, and Ken had to clarify more than once that the members “all like women.”
4. VIXX’s Leo and EXO’s Xiumin
Fans of VIXX‘s Leo and EXO‘s Xiumin know that the two idols are extremely close friends but rumors about the two artists began to circulate after Leo shared an intimate photo of the two. In the Instagram post, the two are shown with their faces close together and with Xiumin’s hand on the back of Leo’s neck. The photo’s original caption read “this kid, I love you.”
Leo later explained the photo on a live stream saying that the two had been drinking wine and were always that affectionate with each other. He also deleted the “I love you” part of the photo’s caption because he “woke up the next day and felt embarrassed.”
5. BTS’s V and LIMITLESS’s VOK
BTS‘s V and LIMITLESS‘s VOK (also known as Jang Moonbok) had dating rumors of their own beginning in 2017 when photos of V eating with a “mystery woman” began to circulate online.
Fans first thought that the person in the photo was VOK after discovering photos V had previously used to troll fans. VOK wore his hair long at the time and could be confused with a long-haired woman when looking at him from behind.
As it turns out, the person in the photo was not even VOK! V later shared that it was a “designer hyung” he went out to eat with.
