So, here are 10+ times that PSY and BTS proved to always be the best of friends!
1. BTS dancing with PSY to “DADDY”
PSY won for “Popular Song” with “DADDY” on the 3rd week of December 2015 SBS‘s Inkigayo, and BTS excitedly celebrated with him, dancing the choreography at the end. V also hugged him!
2. PSY and V hanging out
Not only did they appear close at Inkigayo, but years later, PSY shared photos on social media hanging out with V. He references their similar birthdates in the caption!
3. Suga excitedly performing “New Face”
In Run BTS! Episode 28, Suga was hyped to sing PSY’s “New Face” in karaoke!
4. All of the members joining J-Hope for “Gangnam Style”
In Run BTS! Episode 153, J-Hope performed “Gangnam Style” for karaoke, including the choreography, but the other members couldn’t help but join in! Everyone loves it.
5. BTS singing and dancing along to “Gentleman”
During the Run BTS! collaboration with The Game Caterers, the members sang and vibed to PSY’s “Gentleman!”
6. BTS easily identifying PSY’s iconic songs from choreography
Long ago, BTS played a dance challenge in which they had to guess the artist and song of popular choreographies in K-Pop, and one was PSY’s “Champion!”
7. PSY offered words of advice for BTS
When the group began gaining more popularity internationally, PSY was asked his opinion and if he had advice for them during a press conference for his album 4X2=8.
I saw that BTS is very famous overseas. I’m very proud of them and think they are very worthy of that attention. I’m a very unique example of success and so is BTS. In a way, it seems like the artists that people don’t expect these kinds of results from are the ones who experience that sort of unprecedented success.
I remember seeing [BTS] at music programs a few times at the time of their debut. Seeing them work so hard made me proud.
I think BTS will continue to grow into an even more recognized group moving forward. I want to tell them, that regardless of how long they promote overseas, to not feel burdened. They’ve already established that they are artists worthy of recognition in Asia.

8. PSY celebrated BTS’s American Music Awards debut
PSY “passed the torch” to BTS. Previously, PSY appeared at the 2012 American Music Awards. Five years later, he posted a throwback to his performance with MC Hammer, including the caption “@amas #5yrslater BTSturn #proudofthem @bts.bighitofficial.”
9. BTS dancing to “Gangnam Style” at live events
Of course, we can all relate to this one. Anytime BTS hear “Gangnam Style” or any other iconic PSY song, the members can’t help but start dancing in public.
10. PSY telling BTS they “worked hard”
Following his Inkigayo win in 2015, PSY said that BTS worked really hard.
11. Their many interactions on Twitter
PSY has continually praised BTS and shown his support throughout the years publicly.
Likewise, BTS show love too…
When V shared the MV for PSY’s song “I LUV IT,” PSY lovingly responded.
V: To tell you the truth, sunbaenim’s song is a yes yes oh yes! Daebak!!!!
PSY: Oh thanks~~~~
As early as 2015, the two interacted, and back then, BTS tweeted that they were “successful fans” for getting to dance alongside PSY.
BTS: It was great to dance together with PSY, a senior artist that we have respected for a long time. I am a successful fan…your performance on ‘Yoo Hee Yeol’s Sketchbook’ was also so cool. From your performance I realized that that it how a stage should be done! Congrats on first place!
PSY: Thanks! Always take care of your heart and let’s “fighting” together!
