4 Times MONSTA X’s Hyungwon Met His Match With Technology

MONSTA X‘s Hyungwon is known among fans for struggling with technology. This lack of know-how makes sense considering Monbebe often affectionately refer to him as “grandpa” in reference to both his easygoing personality and technological inability.

Though Hyungwon does his best when it comes to technology, his lack of proficiency is endearing to fans.

Here are 4 times Hyungwon proved his “grandpa” status.

1. When he couldn’t end his VLIVE

Hyungwon, like many K-Pop idols, frequently uses live video to connect with fans. Sometimes, though, things don’t go as planned. Monbebe remember one time in particular when he was unable to end the broadcast after he said his goodbyes.

2. When he didn’t know how YouTube worked

Hyungwon had never had a Gmail prior to this moment. He thought that when he finally got one it meant that he would not have any more ads while using YouTube. Hyungwon also didn’t know that you could subscribe to channels before purchasing YouTube premium. MONSTA X members I.M and Joohoney explained that this wasn’t the case.

3. When he couldn’t post a link to fancafe

Hyungwon wanted to share a YouTube link to MONSTA X’s fancafe to show off his participation in Gmarket Global‘s Inssa Oppa but had to ask fellow group member Minhyuk for help. Fans found that this interaction highlighted just how out of touch with technology Hyungwon really is.

4. When he used Zoom’s default background

Since the group was in quarantine, MONSTA X recorded their Christmas greeting to Monbebe via Zoom. Fans were quick to point out Hyungwon’s choice of background. Instead of changing it, Hyungwon used the default setting, and fans pointed out that it was fitting for him.

They way Monsta X chose the individual zoom backgrounds which are so fitting of their characters 😂

Monbebe even joked that Hyungwon joining Instagram was a far-fetched possibility, since he had such a difficult time with seemingly simple platforms already. Even so, many fans wanted him to open an account.
