Here Are The 3 Western Pop Stars TWICE And Stray Kids Want To See On US Version Of “The Masked Singer”

Could these artists be under the mask?

Fans were surprised when both TWICE and Stray Kids appeared on the American version of the King Of Mask Singer (simply known as The Masked Singer)’s Twitter feed promoting the new season of the popular reality competition show.

While there to promote the show, the groups were asked which Western pop acts they’d like to see compete on a future show season, and their answers did not disappoint. Here are the 3 Western Pop Stars TWICE and Stray Kids want to see on a forthcoming season of The Masked Singer.

1. Dua Lipa

When TWICE was asked to name an artist they wanted to see on the show, Mina nominated Dua Lipa to give the unique singing competition a go.

Not only is Dua Lipa one of the world’s most prominent artists with her album, Future Nostalgia, having owned 2020, she also co-wrote “Behind The Mask” for TWICE’s Eyes Wide Open album. With a song about masks under her belt, it seems like Dua Lipa is destined for the show.

On top of her contribution to TWICE’s discography, Dua Lipa has been very active within K-Pop herself, having worked with some of K-Pop’s biggest girl groups, including the aforementioned TWICE, BLACKPINK, and MAMAMOO‘s Hwasa.

2. Olivia Rodrigo

Stray Kids’ Changbin provided the answer for the group, but they all readily agreed with his choice of teen pop sensation, Olivia Rodrigo.

Rodrigo made a significant splash in the industry earlier this year with her record-breaking ballad “Driver’s License”. From there, Rodrigo hasn’t slowed down, following up with pop-punk-inspired “Good 4 U” and the trendy “Deja Vu”.

When sharing his reasoning behind the decision, Changbin said that “Her voice is very amazing.” That’s very high praise coming from one-third of the rapper/producer trio, 3RACHA.

3. Lady Gaga

TWICE’s second answer came from maknae, Tzuyu. She suggested that it may be time to see the “mother monster” potentially dress up as a monster on The Masked Singer‘s stage. When Tzuyu said Lady Gaga, everyone agreed.

Lady Gaga has been in the western music industry for more than a decade, continually redefining herself and her style. It’s no wonder that she might speak to TWICE as an example of longevity in music.

Lady Gaga is also no stranger to K-Pop, having invited Crayon Pop to tour with her in 2014. She most recently worked with BLACKPINK on her widely praised Chromatica album.

While this trio of pop divas may not show up on The Masked Singer this season, we agree that their appearances under the mask would be iconic. What do you think of the groups’ suggestions? Let us know, and to read more from these interviews, check out the article below:
