15-Year-Old Singer Harassed And Stalked By Man In His 60s
A man in his 60s was recently put on trial for stalking the 15-year-old trot singer Oh Yujin.
On May 5, KST, the man, identified as Mr. A, was brought to the Changwon District Court on accusations of violating the Stalking Punishment Act and the Information and Communications Network Act (defamation). According to reports, he stalked the young singer from May to November of last year, visiting her school while claiming to be her father. He also allegedly called Oh Yujin’s grandmother repeatedly, requesting meetings.
Additionally, Mr. A is also accused of defaming the singer by posting around 50 to 60 comments online questioning her biological parentage.
During the trial, the prosecution highlighted the severity as well as the prolonged duration of his harassment of Oh Yujin. They also urged the court to consider how young the victim was and the subsequent psychological trauma that she and her family endured due to Mr. A’s actions. The prosecution requested a year prison term for the crime.
Mr. A’s legal representative expressed remorse on behalf of his client, acknowledging his wrongdoing. However, he attributed it to his client’s “subjective belief” and asked for leniency, stating that he ceased the crime after learning the objective truth that Oh Yujin was not his biological daughter.
In his final statement, Mr. A apologized for his actions. The final sentence hearing is scheduled for April 9.
Meanwhile, Oh Yujin gained popularity in Korea as a contestant on the show Trot National Sports Festival, where she won third place. She was also a participant in My Teenage Girl (2021) and made her official debut that same year with the single “Come See Me.” Currently, she is signed under Totalset Entertainment.
