AITA? — 2nd Generation Idol Complains About Husband’s Disinterest In Church
A legendary 2nd generation K-Pop idol recently caught some heat from netizens after revealing that her husband’s views on religion are disappointing to her.
Her complaint, presented in the classic “AITA” (Am I The A*shole?) style on Reddit, would probably read something like this:
I, 31 (F), have been married to my husband, 37 (M), for four years now. We started seeing each other in 2013, marking this year our 11th year together. During all these years, the only complaint I have with my husband is that he doesn’t go to church. I’m a devoted Christian, and I would like to practice my faith together with him. But my husband is stubborn. He drops me off at church sometimes, but he never goes inside with me.
AITA for wanting him to join me?

And to that question, most Korean netizens would have answered with a resounding “yes,” as evident from online community discussions.
The idol in question here is former Wonder Girls member Hyelim. She recently appeared in a video on the YouTube channel Chmanchu, where she talked about her married life quite in detail. The idol shared the story of how she first met her husband, her secret tip to be able to go on public dates with her then-boyfriend, and even her current disappointment in him.
Hyelim said that the only complaint she has from Shin Min Chul, her husband, is that he never goes to church with her. “
When you’re in a relationship and your girlfriend says, ‘Let’s go to the church together,’ don’t you usually just go with her? But my husband is stubborn. He would drive me to church sometimes, but he never goes inside with me.

The MCs reacted to this revelation, saying they would also like to introduce Hyelim’s husband to Christianity. But netizens were not too impressed with this anecdote, and called out the idol for trying to “impose” her beliefs on Shin.
- “You should’ve married a church-goer then.”
- “It’s giving me PTSD. Just go alone.”
- “Marry a church-goer.”
- “Can’t you just be respectful toward each other?”
- “Ugh, please. Come on.”
- “No, but then you should have met someone from the church??”
- “It’s so creepy that she married him, saying it was okay, but then tried to change him.”
- “Pressurizing with religion… Ugh.”
- “Oh, it’s a religious YouTube (channel), I see. Hm.”
