“It’s No Longer 2012” — 2NE1’s New Concert Goods Spark Backlash
2NE1 is back — but their new merchandise isn’t bringing it, according to fans.
Recently, the group announced a reunion and comeback tour.
While fans anticipate seeing the group together again, the limited edition official merchandise drop in honor of the 15th anniversary world tour left them commented that the designs are underwhelming and outdated.
Some of the merch items include the “I love 2NE1” shirt…
…as well as a mesh trucker hat with the group’s logo.
There’s also a t-shirt with the geometric pattern from the 2014 album CRUSH.
Similar designs are on tote bags, hoodies, and more.
Fans were less than impressed. They shared their opinions under the announcement tweet, commenting on the “cheap” and “basic” look of the merch.
Korean netizens also felt the designs looked like cheap merchandise you would find a tourist shop.
- “The ‘I love 2NE1’ shirt is crazy.”
- “This isn’t it…”
- “What the heck.”
- “Ah.”
- “It’s not even “I love New York”… What is that?”
- “What is this…?”
- “Wow…”
- “Ah…”
- “What kind of Dongdaemun-style T-shirt is this…”
Fans hope the designs can be changed to reflect a new modern era of 2NE1. Meanwhile, check out the latest from the group below.
