[BREAKING] 4Minute to disband after 7 years, Hyuna to continue?
It has been revealed that Cube Entertainment‘s first girl group, 4Minute, may be disbanding after the expiration of the members’ exclusive contracts.
As Cube Entertainment’s first girl group, five member group 4Minute made their debut in June 2009 with the single “Hot Issue.” They released their first mini-album, Musik, later in 2009 and went on to promote for the next seven years with hit title tracks including “HuH,” “I My Me Mine,” “Heart to Heart,” “Mirror Mirror,” “Volume Up,” “What’s Your Name?,” “Is It Poppin’?,”Crazy,” and most recently, “Hate.” The group also successfully debuted in Japan.
However, it was revealed on June 13, 2016 by music industry representatives that the group would be officially disbanding after the expiration of the members’ exclusive contracts with Cube Entertainment. It was noted that after a long discussion with the company, the members may have different ideas about what the future holds for them.
Additionally, it was also revealed that out of 4Minute’s five members, Hyuna‘s contract may have already reached a decision. During her time in 4Minute, Hyuna also debuted as a successful solo artist, releasing hit tracks including “Ice Cream,” “Bubble Pop,” and “Red.”
A Cube Entertainment representative told Korean news outlet TV Report, “Hyuna was the first to sign a new contract. However, the other members [of 4Minute] are undergoing constant negotiations.
As the rumor of 4Minute’s disbandment has not been confirmed nor denied by 4Minute’s agency, please stay tuned for Cube Entertainment’s official statement regarding 4Minute’s contract situation.
