64-year-old veteran broadcaster Choi Hwa Jeong has replaced BLACKPINK’s Rosé as the new face of luxury beauty brand Sulwhasoo. Her appointment marks a notable shift in the beauty industry, where it’s rare to see a woman in her 60s step into such a prominent role.
Choi made her first appearance as Sulwhasoo’s ambassador at an event in Seoul on September 10, celebrating the release of their “Jaumsaeng Cream.” She expressed her excitement while speaking at the event, stating, “It’s an honor to represent Sulwhasoo at this stage in my life.”
Sulwhasoo — a leading skincare brand by AmorePacific — had no official spokespeople for two decades after its launch in 1997. This changed in 2018 when actress Song Hye Kyo became their first model. Later, in 2022, BLACKPINK’s Rosé took on the global ambassador role, which she held for two years.
Choi’s recent success goes beyond her new beauty gig. She’s seen a resurgence in popularity, amassing half a million subscribers on her YouTube channel, Hello, It’s Choi Hwa Jeong, within just two months. Her content, which often includes product recommendations, has sparked a wave of sellouts, proving her lasting influence in the media world.
