8Eight members Joohee and Baek Chan join YMC Entertainment
8Eight members Joohee and Baek Chan have been reported to be joining a new agency together, YMC Entertainment.
Following their contract expiration with Big Hit Entertainment in December 2014, the duo opted out of renewing their contract thus disbanding their hybrid group after seven long years together. Third member Lee Hyun is still under the agency as his contract due to having enlisting in the army during his active contract, thus, has a different expiration date than his other two members.
Big Hit Entertainment ensured that there is no ill feelings between the three members. Because of this, 8Eight is determined as only temporarily disband as they are possibilities that Lee Hyun will rejoin the other two members in the future for music promotions.
On June 14th, YMC Entertainment confirmed that the two 8Eight members have joined their agency, saying, “8Eight’s Joohee and Baek Chan recently signed an exclusive contract with us. They have already proven their musical abilities and potential, we are looking forward to working with them in the future.”
8Eight first appeared in 2007 as part of the MBC program Show Survival, and stole their audience’s hearts with their superb vocals and diversity in music. That same year, they released their first studio album The First, and has released a total of three studio albums and two mini-albums, not including singles.
They further rose into prominence following their music video release for “Without A Heart,” which featured former Wonder Girls’ member Sohee.
YMC Entertainment houses Ailee, Wheesung, Baechigi, Shin Bo Ra, Lucky J, and Mighty Mouth.
