Actor Darren Wang’s Attempted Murder Case Details Emerge

On March 4, media outlet ETToday reported that popular actor Darren Wang (Wang Ta Lu) is currently under investigation for attempted murder.
This came just a couple of weeks after the actor was found to have dodged mandatory military service in Taiwan, and it turns out this is exactly what led to him being suspected to have been involved in an attempted murder.

According to the latest report by media outlet SETN, the alleged attempted murder happened in April 2024. Reportedly, when he flew to Taiwan and called for airport transfer service through UBER, he thought the Tesla that came was of poor quality.
Later on, he felt the driver was taking unnecessary detours during the trip, which led to a verbal argument. Additionally, when he got out of the car, he realized he had left his keys behind but “didn’t know how to open the car door.” Instead, he punched the car window, angering the driver and escalating the situation.
As such, through his friend, reportedly a 2nd-generation chaebol, he got in touch with gang member(s) who beat up the driver of the car and the individual who handled his reservation.
Although the crime was reported, no one knew of Darren Wang’s involvement until he was investigated for military evasion. It was discovered, through Darren Wang’s seized phone, the actor had messages and photos indicating he bragged to his friends about the matter.
The actor’s manager responded, “We’re trying to get an understanding of the matter at the moment. Thank you.“
