Actor Kim Soo Hyun’s Comment On Suzy’s “Questionable” Cameo In His Movie Resurfaces

As the late actress Kim Sae Ron‘s family continues to expose actor Kim Soo Hyun in demand of an official apology for his inappropriate relationship with her as a minor, his K-Movie Real has come under scrutiny, too, for how Sulli and other actresses were cast and portrayed.
Now, amid the movie’s questionable background receiving much attention, Kim Soo Hyun’s 2017 interview about Suzy‘s cameo role has resurfaced.

In the interview, Kim Soo Hyun said, “I didn’t feel too stressed about asking other actors to make cameo appearances. I explained everything well and tried to keep it light. I invited those whose schedules aligned or who had some free time.”
One of the said cameos included Suzy who had co-starred with him in Dream High.
Many people put in a lot of effort, but Suzy had it especially tough. I casually asked her, ‘Would you be able to do a cameo if you have time?’ and she readily agreed.

Kim Soo Hyun admitted that it ended up being a lot more work than she could have anticipated—as in, he didn’t mention what her cameo role would entail. The idol-turned-actress then had to sit through six hours of special makeup to be portrayed in a way she did not expect. He noted that he felt bad about it and so he thanked her over and over again for agreeing to appear in the movie nonetheless.

Suzy’s scene was filmed at a set in Daejeon. She arrived six hours before filming to get her tattoo makeup done. The tattoo application process took six hours in total. After the shoot, Suzy told me, ‘You never mentioned this part,’ expressing her surprise. Feeling guilty, I could only keep repeating, ‘Thank you.’

A drive to Daejeon and six hours of tattoo makeup later, Suzy appeared a total of 7 seconds, max, in Real.
Suzy is not the only actress who was cast and then exploited for a tiny segment in the movie. Actress Han Ji Eun, who auditioned for her role, ended up “traumatized“ because of how the shoot on set went vs. how the character turned out.
Meanwhile, the original director of the movie—who was replaced by GOLD MEDALIST‘s CCO Lee Sa Rang—spoke up about all the buzz surrounding the movie. Read more:
