Actor Park Bo Gum Said To Be Most Likely To Enlist In The Korean Navy In August 2020
The Korean press Joongang Ilbo exclusively revealed that actor Park Bo Gum has auditioned to enlist as part of the South Korean Navy military band.
According to entertainment industry and the military associates, Park Bo Gum visited the Republic of Korea Navy Headquarters in Gyeryong City of South Chungcheong province on June 1, 2020 and tested his piano skills for the keyboardist position.
A military associate shared, “Park Bo Gum has a remarkable talent at playing the piano.” Reportedly, unless the Navy finds some ineligibility, Park Bo Gum will most likely be accepted to serve his duty in the Navy.
With that said, Park Bo Gum is estimated to have filed his intent to enlist in the Navy by August 2020 sometime in early May. While the news came rather out of the blue, his fans are not too surprised by the actor’s decision. For one, Park Bo Gum’s father served in the Navy — so that may have been greatly influential.
Two, Park Bo Gum studied musical theater at Myongji University and has shown off his piano and vocal skills multiple times. Hence, his fans always assumed that he will eventually choose to audition for a spot on the military band.
The result of the audition is scheduled to be posted June 25, 2020. If he passes, Park Bo Gum will be set to enlist August 31, 2020 at 2PM as part of the 669th group of Navy recruits. In such case, he will serve 20 months as per the current military requirement and be discharged by April 2022.
