Actor Park Seo Joon Explains His Side Of The “Rude Headband Incident” With Actress Park Bo Young
Actor Park Seo Joon addressed the recent headband controversy and explained his side of the story.
Recently, actor Park Seo Joon received backlash for refusing to wear a hairband that actress Park Bo Young offered him. At a movie screening for Concrete Utopia, a fan handed Park Bo Young headbands, and when she offered one to Park Seo Joon, he signaled to his hair and rejected it.
Netizens claimed that he was being rude and inconsiderate to Park Bo Young. Others said that he could have at least held the headband in his hands. On the other hand, netizens defended the actor and said that the criticism was for nothing.
This commotion caused a netizen who alleged they were the fan who provided the headbands to speak out. The fan defended the actor and asked that netizens stop making a big deal out of the incident.
Park Seo Joon’s Fan Behind Infamous Hairbands Speak Out Amid Controversy
On August 7, Park Seo Joon wrote an apology for his fans who might have been offended by the recent controversies surrounding his fan services. He wrote on his official fan cafe, stating that his post was he “was worried that some of [them] might have been hurt.”
He addressed the headband incident, explaining his side of the story. People speculated that he didn’t accept the headband because he had hairspray in his hair, but it was deeper than that—his choice of hairstyle caused his hair to be unmovable.
In truth, I sweat a lot during stage greetings. Some fans like my hair down, and some like it up, so today, I decided to put my hair up because it’s easier to wipe off my sweat that way. I sprayed a lot of hairspray in the morning and fixed my hair so firmly that it wouldn’t move even if I tried. In that state, if I put anything in my hair, it hurt my scalp a lot.

He also addressed comments that said Park Bo Young must have felt embarrassed standing there with the headband in her hair. There appeared to have been a misunderstanding on the headband gift that was given by Park Bo Young’s fan.
It may sound like an excuse, but I’m sure you know that I usually don’t hesitate to do stuff [like wear headbands]. Many people said it was probably embarrassing for Bo Young to stand there holding the headband, but I didn’t think of that item as mine. I thought it was Bo Young’s gift from Bo Young’s fan and that if I took it, they might be offended. I think there was a misunderstanding.

He also shared that Park Bo Young expressed her sorriness about the incident yesterday and that he told her not to be sorry and to do the remaining schedules well together.
Park Seo Joon also apologized for the other controversies surrounding his fan service, such as the incident in which a fan hugged him without his consent and his unwillingness to do a face heart. He thanked his fans and told them that because of them, he is “not afraid of anything.” He also ended the apology telling fans to take care of themselves and telling them he loves them.
