Renowned actress Kim Mi Kyung has recently experienced the heartbreaking loss of her mother.
On July 3, TenAsia reported that Kim’s mother, Sim Bin Yu, passed away.
The funeral services are scheduled to be held at Dongguk University Ilsan Hospital Funeral Hall, with the ceremony taking place at 5:30 AM on July 5.
The sad news has deeply touched the hearts of many Korean netizens as Kim is affectionately known as the “Nation’s Mother” because of her frequent portrayal of motherly roles. Her performances in dramas such as Agency, Doctor Cha, Welcome to Samdalri, Crash Course in Romance, and Say You Love Me have solidified her status as a beloved figure.
Earlier this year, Kim Mi Kyung portrayed a grieving mother mourning her late son in the second part of TVING‘s Now, We Are Breaking Up. She also recently played Go Mi Ja, the head of a diving association and the mother of three daughters, in JTBC‘s weekend drama Welcome to Samdalri.
These roles have further cemented her reputation as the “Nation’s Mother.”
