Actress Kim Tae Ri Personally Apologizes To Fans Following Recent “Free Labor” Controversy
Actress Kim Tae Ri recently took to Instagram to share a heartfelt apology with fans after she came under fire when asking for “free labor” regarding her YouTube channel.
Kim Tae Ri recently came under fire for “asking for free labor” when she opened a project, in a now-deleted Instagram post, to ask fans worldwide to help with subtitling for her YouTube channel.
After the post was made, it received a lot of backlash, which led to the actress taking it down.
On May 23, her company made an official statement to address the issue. They clarified that the vlog series does not generate profit and that the project was simply a request made in order to help other global fans.
After the controversy surrounding the Instagram post and then the company’s response, Kim Tae Ri took to her account again to release an apology to fans in both Korean and English.
The actress apologized for all the “trouble” she caused, sharing her initial thoughts when she first posted the project.
Hello, this is Kim Tae Ri.
Above all, I’m sorry for the trouble I have caused. I’d like to express my apologies to everyone I made feel uncomfortable. As I was worried that this might cause further discomfort to many people, I was cautious and delayed in addressing this issue. I am writing this to convey my apologies to those who may be disappointed in me.
I planned my vlog as a way to repay the love I have received from my fans, and I have been involved in every step of the process, from filming to editing to, at present, the English subtitles. I thought that this might be a more complete way to repay my fans.

The actress then went on to explain that after receiving requests from international fans, not just those who speak English, she wanted everyone to enjoy the video. It was her desire to do this, which meant her actions were done without caution.
Since the video was released, fans from various countries, not just English-speaking ones, have requested subtitles in their own languages. Seeing the different languages under the video made me think about how great it would be if they could enjoy the video with subtitles in their own language. But because I was so focused on the idea of completing something meaningful with my fans, I failed to approach the most important issue with caution. Clearly, I fell short.

Kim Tae Ri ended by apologizing for asking for “talent donations” and explained that she also sent individual apologies to everyone who had messaged her to help with the translations.
I should not have approached my fans as if I was asking for talent donations. It was a clear mistake, and I deeply reflect on the fact that I was not aware of it myself. I apologize to everyone who may have felt uncomfortable due to my short-sighted thoughts and actions.
