Popular K-Drama Actress Reveals What Made Her Suddenly Disappear From The Spotlight

Actress Lee Chae Young, who debuted with a commercial in 2006, became an overnight sensation when she appeared in RAIN‘s “I Do” music video.

From then on, she appeared in countless K-Dramas and K-Movies between 2007 and 2024—even winning at KBS‘s “Drama Awards” twice, in 2014 and 2020.

But sometime between her 2023 tvN K-Drama Family and 2024 K-Movie Punggi, the actress disappeared from the spotlight (including dropping out of SBS‘s Kick A Goal)…

…and limited her communication to Instagram updates, documenting her trips around the world.

Then, on February 26, 2025 (KST), when a curious follower asked where she had gone, Lee Chae Young revealed that she was prioritizing herself after pushing herself too hard in 2023. Noting the “toll” it took on her “body and mind,” Lee Chae Young explained that after she got through her pre-scheduled commitments, she withdrew herself from the public eye.

Fan: Chae Young, please stop traveling and come back to work. I miss you.
Lee Chae Young: In 2023, I pushed myself too hard with too many projects, which took a toll on my body and mind. So last year, after I carried out my pre-scheduled commitments, I stepped down from the programs I was working on, and took time for myself. Through this process, I came to realize that the most important things in life are health and happiness. I’ve been taking care of myself, and although I may not be in the spotlight right now, I am living diligently in many ways. I hope you understand.
The actress added her next destination include somewhere warm, Paris or New York, as well as South America later in 2025. Given her big plans to travel the world, it does not seem Lee Chae Young will be back on the screens any time soon. Regardless, her fans are now rooting for her well-being.
