Adele Hit With Massive Backlash After Rising Sun Flag Appears During Her Concert
British pop singer Adele is facing significant backlash from her Korean fans after the Rising Sun flag was displayed during one of her concerts.
The controversy erupted after the flag was seen on a massive LED screen at her concert in Germany on August 2.
Adele is currently performing ten large-scale concerts at a specially constructed stadium in Munich, designed to accommodate over 740,000 attendees. The concert series aims to set a Guinness World Record with its 220-meter-long outdoor screen.
Despite the ambitious setup, the appearance of the Rising Sun flag has overshadowed these achievements and drawn severe criticism from Korean fans.
The symbol — associated with Japan’s imperialist past and deeply offensive to Koreans — appeared during Adele’s performance of “Rumor Has It.”
Videos of the concert quickly spread across social media, sparking a wave of angry reactions from Korean fans.
