ADOR Receives Praise For NewJeans’ Impressive Financial Achievement
NewJeans has had a breakout year after their surprise debut this summer. Their Y2K concept and mysterious style caught fire in the industry and influenced trends and other K-Pop idols, who couldn’t help but dance and sing along to the group’s catchy songs.
Under the creative helm of CEO and creative director Min Hee Jin, the ADOR group has seen enormous success in the five months since their debut. They recently earned their first Daesang at the 2022 Asia Artist Awards, breaking the record for the shortest amount of time a K-Pop group has earned a Daesang, surpassing the previous record-holder Miss A.
The awards they’ve earned and the public recognition they’ve gained aren’t the only proof of their popularity. NewJeans recently appeared on tvN‘s You Quiz On The Block, where they opened up about their debut preparations and their impressive accomplishments.
Min Hee Jin was also featured in the episode and shared that the group’s success has been heartwarming to see as she considers NewJeans her honorary kids; likewise, they view her as their honorary mom.
👩🦳min heejin: hanni’s parents lives in australia and this time they came to korea. Hanni’s little sister, hanni and her mom have matching pajamas and they gave me the same ones. They also gave all the members the same pajamas. They called me Hanni’s Korean Motherㅠㅠ😭#newjeans pic.twitter.com/p2zojdqSDH

Not only the members, but their respective parents also appreciate the care and guidance that Min Hee Jin has shown the girls. This made the group’s instant success after years of preparation and hard work even more satisfying for the CEO and the group as it allowed the NewJeans members to be paid only two months after their debut.
Typically, it takes much longer for K-Pop groups to receive their first pay as many contracts require the idol to pay back costs incurred during their training period. Some groups never receive compensation as an idol.
Former SONAMOO’s Euijin shared in September that she earned her first paycheck from her part-time job at a cafe after her group disbanded, despite having been an idol for seven years. Ladies’ Code’s Ashley also revealed in 2020 that she didn’t earn money during the seven years her group was actively promoting. Those are only a few examples of a widespread issue idol’s often face, which makes how quickly NewJeans earned money even more impressive.
Bunnies celebrated their impressive accomplishment, praising ADOR and their parent company HYBE LABELS, for not inundating their artists with debt.
Hybe categorizes Trainee expenses as what it is… an investment and not a debt. Which is why their artists have never had to pay back their trainee debt. Also they have one of the highest trainee expenses to ensure their artists are pepped https://t.co/PrIvStWOm6

I know people hate on HYBE for a million of reasons, but the fact they debut rookies debt free now and they actually start earning straight away is actually something that needs to become the industry standard. https://t.co/lvbhXRXovI

According to Harvard Business Review, BigHit erased that trainee debt by making it a liability of the company instead so that idols can focus on becoming better artists. I think they started doing that for TXT. Glad to know HYBE, especially ADOR adopted this practice. 😊 https://t.co/XZ8OyGuPjG
