Aespa’s Recent Performance Faces Heavy Scrutiny And Criticism
Aespa’s recent performance has earned negative reactions from netizens.
On December 21, the 2024 KBS Gayo Daechukje Global Festival took place with various groups attending.
Many of these groups put on special performances for the end-of-year event, including aespa. The four-membered girl group performed “Armageddon” and “Whiplash,” starting the performance with a special introduction.
The performance also included a dance break at the end of “Whiplash,” transitioning into “Armageddon.” (starting at 3:35)
The clip was reposted on X, where netizens chimed in on the performance.
Many reactions were overwhelmingly critical of the dance performance, with synchronization and “lack of stage presence” being mentioned as reasons.
Even the main dancer is stiff 😭 no synchronisation no stage presence https://t.co/Pjq5LV5TrD

i think it's interesting how easily some groups can get away with bad performances while others can't have one off moment without being terrorized for years https://t.co/CSKZFlVOzN

On the other hand, the group’s video from the event is the second most watched on KBS’s Official YouTube channel, showing how many turned in to see their performance. The video also has less than 500 dislikes according to an analysis website, compared to the over 47,000 likes.
Comments on the YouTube video are also more positive, with many praising the group for their overall performance. Many specifically mention the group’s stage presence positively, along with their vocal performance.
Meanwhile, aespa will be performing at the SBS Music Awards (also known as SBS’s Gayo Daejeon) on Christmas day.
