On August 31, Lee Suhyun opened up on her Instagram about what she has been feeling through her recent activities for AKMU’s new song “Love Lee.”

She stated that the past three years had been difficult, and she didn’t want the public to see her in that state, but she found hope to live again.

It seems like it’s been about three years. The time that felt long and stagnant for me, the time that didn’t flow, I’ve now decided to live, and I wanted to live again… Knowing that there are people who love the cheerful and lively version of me, I didn’t want to show my current self. I didn’t want to be exposed, so I didn’t go out much, keeping to myself for a long time.

However, Suhyun was inspired by something someone said about why they love AKMU. It was this statement that made her realize that she wants to be her true self—even if it may not be perfect.

But then someone said something to me. They said people love AKMU because, from a young age, we’ve grown and evolved alongside the public, honestly singing and expressing ourselves as we change with age, not lying about the ever-changing appearances that match our years. Hearing that, I decided not to pretend too hard this time. Even if I hear disappointing words or receive criticism due to my current self that might not be perfect, I decided to show my honest self.

Suhyun continued by thanking everyone who supported her—from her family to broadcasting station staff to her fans. She especially thanked her brother Chanhyuk for putting in an effort that he had never put in before for her.

To my older brother, who put in a lot of effort (that he’s never done before?) to focus on me and support me for this album, to the many broadcasting station staff who warmly welcomed me even after a long hiatus, to the company that trusted and entrusted me despite my concerns, to our fans who cheered passionately, there are so many things to be grateful for.

On the same day, a post titled “Chanhyuk’s Comment on Suhyun’s Instagram Post” was posted on the online community theqoo. The post showed a screenshot of Chanhyuk’s witty comments on his sister’s serious post.

Next time, before you post a serious post like this, get it checked first.

Because there are too many paragraph spaces and there are some rambling parts. Hwaiting.

Hwaiting~

Netizens loved Chanhyuk’s brotherly response, and many left comments, saying they are “real siblings indeed” and that “they’re so funny.” Some people with older brothers said that all brothers must be the same, and others said that Chanhyuk’s comment was his way of showing love for his sister.

I was crying, but I saw this comment and my tears dried up immediately😂

Don’t beat around the brush and just say it simply like a man, ‘I. Love. You’!

As my “Love Lee” activities are coming to an end, I thought I’d share a serious talk at this moment.

It seems like it’s been about three years. The time that felt long and stagnant for me, the time that didn’t flow, I’ve now decided to live, and I wanted to live again.

Even as I prepared for my comeback with the support of my family, friends, and colleagues, who cherish and love me, I was actually very worried and fearful.

Knowing that there are people who love the cheerful and lively version of me, I didn’t want to show my current self. I didn’t want to be exposed, so I didn’t go out much, keeping to myself for a long time.

But it turns out I’m much more loved than I thought.

Reading countless messages of worries, comfort, and encouragement and seeing messages saying they cherish me like a daughter, niece, sister, and younger sibling, to the point where I wonder how it’s even possible, I received such overwhelming encouragement and support that made me realize I need to love and care for myself even more.

“Love Lee” made my stagnant time start moving again, and now, it has just started flowing once more. If it’s alright, I want to take each step forward even more diligently with the affectionate support that you all are sending me.

If you can wait for me with a slightly warmer gaze, I will keep singing ceaselessly until my vocal cords function fully again!

I will definitely repay the happy moments I’ve received as gifts.
Thank you.
