F(x) Amber Liu’s Current Whereabouts Are Met With Mixed Reactions
Second-generation K-Pop star Amber Liu has been active in the industry since her debut with f(x) in September 2009.
The girl group are currently on an extended hiatus, as all of the members have departed from SM Entertainment. Like the other members, Amber has pursued a solo career, releasing her first album in 2015.
Since then, the idol has continued releasing music, though lately, she has focused her activities in China, where she was a mentor on Produce Camp 2021.
In early 2024, the idol released a single before embarking on her 2024 solo tour, No More Sad Songs.
However, Her recent activities have earned some surprise from netizens, involving TikTok.
As many know, TikTok is a multi-use app that also functions as a shopping platform for applicable accounts.
These accounts will sometimes display their products through live streams, functioning as a new form of shopping network. At times, these streams can be extremely cheesy or even annoying, causing them to gain a slightly negative reputation.
One shop that uses this function is Popmart, a toy company known for its blind boxes.
On November 8, Amber made an appearance on the US version of the brand’s livestream for the drop of a new figurine set.
Though she is not the first idol to appear on streams like these, usually, they are not made directed at an American audience. Chinese live streams like this are known for being lucrative due to the sheer number of viewers they reach.
Many were surprised to see Amber on the account, and offered a range of emotions, including negativity linked to her past comments on police brutality.
