Anticipated Album Only Sells 10 Copies, Fans Left In Confusion

Fans have pointed out possible reasons.

While streaming is a popular way of measuring an album’s success, many people still use physical albums to gauge the strength of an artist’s fandom. High album sales are a source of pride, while lower sales can sometimes cause alarm.

“Only One?!” — Award-Winning 2nd Generation Girl Group Member’s Album Sales Shocks Netizens

Recently, a fourth-generation girl group had lower-than-expected album sales.

In 2022, the girl group ILY:1 debuted under FC ENM, featuring several contestants from Girls Planet 999.

The group’s last mini-album was released over a year ago, and they have steadily gained fans throughout their other releases.

On August 20, KST, the group released their newest mini album, Illang: Firework, featuring the title track “Illang (Firework).”

Usually, the first day of album sales can be a good marker of what to expect from the group’s sales. However, as of writing, Illang: Firework, has only sold ten albums as recorded on Hanteo Chart.

This total have confused fans, who would not have anticipated sales this low, after their last album sold just under 4,500 on its first day. Some fans have taken this as a chance to promote the group, while others have offered possible explanations for the low amount, like sales not being counted yet.

Thankfully, many fans have stated that they preordered the album, while others seeing the news of their first day of sales have decided to check the group out and buy albums.

Hopefully, ILY:1’s sales will see a huge boost and this will earn them many more new fans!
