Scandal Erupts After Bombshell Exposé Alleges “Bullied” Idol Was Actually The Bully
Former April member Naeun‘s bullying allegations are being re-examined.
On September 25, Sports Kyunghyang released a shocking exposé in which the news outlet revealed April’s staff members’ testimonies regarding allegations claiming Naeun and other April’s members bullied former member Lee Hyunjoo.
In the article, the news outlet asked five staff members whether any bullying took place. Below are the staff members’ answers.
- Label employee A: “The bullying allegations are forced. There are no victims and there are no perpetrators.”
- Former manager B: Lee Naeun’s bullying allegations are the result of a witch-hunt. Lee Naeun is innocent.”
- Hair designer C: “5 people didn’t bully one person. One person (Lee Hyunjoo) bullied 5 people).”
- Hair designer D: “Lee Hyunjoo wasn’t bullied. Nobody would mess with her because no one knew when she would blow up.”
- Label Employee E: “Bullying? This is a case of there being smoke but no fire.”
Notably, the article reveals that many of the staff members pointed out that Lee Hyunjoo, who has been perceived to be the victim, was actually the one who bullied the other 5 members.
Staff members agreed that the group may have had in-fighting but stated that it was Lee Hyunjoo who started it. According to the staff members, Lee Hyunjoo left the dormitory, had a personal phone, often didn’t show up to practice, and had skipped out on several schedules. Because of this, the group’s image worsened and the other members and staff members had to suffer.
I met them every morning and went on schedules with them. From my perspective, I think the victims and the bullies have been switched. 5 people didn’t bully one person. One person bullied 5 people.
I scoffed when the bullying allegations were first made public in 2021. Usually, when something like this happens, you feel bad for the person but as someone who has watched her closely, I didn’t feel bad at all. I’ve always wondered why she became an idol when she couldn’t be a team player just to make her other members suffer.
