One moment from the concert has garnered attention, sparking conversation.

Hongjoong told the audience, “But I also love the Twin Towers.” He was referring to Mingi and Yunho, but his words made many go silent and confused.

The video garnered 78.9K views on TikTok at the time of writing. Some netizens pointed out that “twin towers” is Yunho and Mingi’s nickname as a duo in Korea, and there’s no negative context. Others even pointed out that “twin towers” has been used as a nickname for tall basketball players in the NBA.

Yet, for most Americans, when hearing “twin towers,” a traumatic event comes to mind. On September 11, 2001, the World Trade Center in Manhattan in New York City was destroyed in a terrorist attack that is often referred to as “9/11.” At the center of the complex was the “Twin Towers.”

Knowing ATEEZ will be performing in New York in August, ATINYs hope they will change the script. Despite the “twin towers” being Mingi and Yunho’s nickname, hearing this phrase could be surprising and triggering for some.
