KBS has finally returned with a new survival audition show, MA1. This is becoming a hot topic as it is the first time since 2017 that KBS has held an audition show.

The title MA1 stands for Make Mate 1, and it differs from other shows in that the 35 contestants are not from a trainee system but diverse backgrounds. Producer Hwang Min Gyu said they hope to create a group of boys that we see in daily life rather than from agencies.

Our program aims to depict auditions featuring boys we’ve all encountered in everyday lives … While idols often project a manufactured image from their agencies, our contestants feel refreshingly genuine … From our show, viewers can expect the traditional allure of audition shows coupled with the natural and approachable charms of these unconventional boys.

In the first episode, the Growl team revealed hints of each contestant. One contestant’s hint stated, “Six singers”, garnering curiosity from viewers.
