Award-Winning K-Drama Actor Invited To Join The Academy Of Motion Picture Arts And Sciences
Award-winning Korean German actor Teo Yoo has been invited to join The Academy.
Teo Yoo is known for the musical film Leto, the K-Dramas Love to Hate You, Vagabond, Chocolate, Money Game, The School Nurse Files, The Cravings, Dr. Brain, the film Vertigo, for which he won The 2021 Blue Dragon Film Award for “Best New Actor,” and the critically acclaimed 2023 American film Past Lives.
Past Lives received five nominations at The 81st Golden Globe Awards and was nominated for “Best Original Screenplay” and “Best Picture” at The 96th Academy Awards. It is considered one of the best films of the 21st century.
Teo Yoo was even nominated for the BAFTA Award for “Best Actor in a Leading Role” for Past Lives. Now, he continues to receive worldwide recognition, as he was invited to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

As of June 25, the Academy has invited 487 new members for 2024. Teo Yoo and his Past Lives co-star, Korean American actress Greta Lee, are among the actors invited.
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has extended invitations to 487 distinguished artists and executives to join the organization in 2024. Membership selection is based on professional qualifications, with an ongoing commitment to representation, inclusion and equity. This year, there are 71 Oscar nominees, including 19 winners, among the invitees.
